Anyone else noticed that in the last week or so that now and again when sening a text on 02 it sometimes dont arrive at the other end right away like it usally dose and can take a few mins to arrive. Its not a major prob but it is a minor prob at times as 02 text is working 99% of the time. I have been using the 02 delivery reports for nearly a year now.

To get a delivery report on O2, you have to type *0# (star, zero, hash) at the start of your message. You don't need to leave a space after this before typing your message as the recipient won't see it as long as it's done correctly. For example: *0#Hello. How are you? etc

They send you a text message back when it has been delivered. I don't use them all the time as it can be annoying typing *0# at the beginning of every text - I do use them for texts that I want to check are delivered.

Hope this helps.

oh ok thanks. its stupid the phone inbuilt one wont work automatically. or the phones dont have something like where msword has a normal.dot template so anything on it is replicated automatically onto new documents. if they have the on phones it would be so much better. ill remember that for at football thought. if someone dosnt have there phone on i wont bother texting the rest

thanks

AFAIK O2 no longer support delivery reports. I have them switched on and get nothing, yet when I have my Orange sim in the same phone, they work fine.

Yesterday afternoon texts from my 02 sent ok but seemed to take 4 or 5 mins to arrive at the other end. For thats how long it tane for the 02 delivery report to come back to say they had arrived other end and I know my sisters mobile was on for she texted me and shes also 02. My friend she got Orange and once in a while gets my text a few mins after I send them but a very odd once in a while she only gets 2 bars out of the 5 for signal.

I sent a text to my friends Orange mobile just before 9pm and it never arrived so I sent the same text a few mins later and 02 sent me a delivery report with in 30 or 40 seconds to say that arrived other end. The first text I sent dont seem to have arrived at the other end. Anyone been having minor 02 probs with text or that this week.

If the reply says the message was sent, then the network has handed over the SMS to the recieving network. After this stage its out of o2's hand.

If the SMS wasn't recieved the problem lies with (in this case) Orange. (if you recieved the SMS back saying it was delviered).

First text I sent I never got a delivery rerport back to say it arrived at other end so I sent the same text again and they sent me a delivery report back within 30 or 40 seconds to say it had arrived. I got a delivery report back from the first text I sent nearly 18mins after I sent it. Seems very strange and same thing happend the other day as well when senting a text my friends Orange mobile. My sister is on 02 and she got my text the other day a few mins after I had sent them and her mobile was on. Has 02 been playing up for anyone this week. I know my friend sometimes says her Orange Mobile only gets 2 bars for signal once in a while.

I know this is strange, but a lot of this depends on the prefix of your mobile number, the first 5 digits. I know it's weird, but it's true. The networks have different loopholes and things with different prefixes - hence why some people can use a message centre number with their SIM card.
