Orange: End of contract
Hi,
My contract is due to end, possibly this month - well, it was a 12 month contract and I got it in May a year ago. However, it says my next bill is the 15th of June. What are the procedures for ending a contract? Will I have to contact Orange and tell them I don't want it to continue? Can I change my phone to a Pay as you Go plan once my contract has ended? Thanks

Hi Examinus
As part of your contract you are required to give Orange 30 days notice, however this may not apply if you wish to change over to PAYG. I would just give them a call, they should be able to sort you out mate. Daz |

Just phone customer services and tell them that you want to terminate your contract in 30 days - (simple, apart from trying to convince them that you want to disconnect while they try to persuade you to upgrade). If you want the number transfered onto PAYG, ask them and they will send you a new SIM. |

then don't bother contacting c/s until you're ready to upgrade - the phone will keep on running as normal!!!

Yes, you should be able to. As Glen said its a ongoing contract with a 12 month mininum term, you will continue to be billed at your normal rate. When you want to upgrade and call c/s they will be able to tell that you have completed your mininum term and as such will be able to upgrade. Normally when you upgrade to another phone you normally lock yourself into another 12 month mininum term. I have been caught out by this before! Not sure if it is the same with Orange however because I am on 3.
Regards, Peter |

be careful about changing the plan - Orange are doing non-handset upgrades and stuff. I'm sure they'll try to get you to change to an animal tariff and tie you in for twelve months (18 mths if you take an upgrade)
*EDIT* although I think they'll let you go onto their Core Tariffs, but I have no idea what these are!!!!!! |

I'll see what plans are available when the time comes. I won't upgrade if I don't get a new phone so I'll just wait and see
