19 inch LCD that's HD ready
I posted on another website asking for advice on a 19 inch LCD tv that Argos currently have on offer that is HD ready.I only want a smaller one for the dining room as an extra TV for the kid to watch now and again to save arguments
I'm not that fussed really if it had HD as i won't have a NTL box out there or anything or if it has freeview built in as we have a box out there anyway but this seemed like a good price. But someone mentioned that it wouldn't make any difference having HD on a screen so small as you'd need at least a 32 inch TV for this to notice...is that correct? Out of interest the TV is this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...elevisions.htm It might come in handy in the future i suppose if it would make a difference. Thanks and sorry if this is the wrong forum

No freeview I'm afraid, for further info. look on www.samsung.co.uk where all the specs are available.
HD is probably unnecessary on this size. The TV in question is really more of a PC monitor, so will be great if you hook up a computer to it, otherwise a dedicated TV may well be a better idea, whether or not its HD ready. |

I remember reading that you need a 26" or greater LCD panel for HD but I understand it's really all about the native resolution of the screen.

Thanks for the replies.I actually didn't notice it said monitor/tv just assumed it was only an LCD tv.I know it hasn't got freeview but we have a spare box for this anyway so don't need that though of course it would be better built in.
Can't really afford that one from Comet i'm afraid Stevey ![]() I did see Curry's are advertising one at the moment with a built in DVD player for £200 though it's only 15 inch which might be ok i suppose as it's not a big room. Thanks |

I've got one of those Samsung displays, using it as a display for my Mac mini, razor sharp at 1440x900 over the DVI connection - very happy.
In terms of TV, got my Freeview box hooked up and fairly happy with the results. Seems a bit... blocky when I'm sitting up next to it (it's on my desk) but I have been told this is standard(?) can someone explain a bit more. Anyway sitting a few feet away it looks fine. P in P is very useful. |
