Hi all.

Is there any news on when the new series will start and more imortantly who will be the contestants?

Is there a celebrity you would like to see in the next series?

I think a good line up would include people like Justin Fletcher, Anne Robinson, Nicky Campbell, Sarah Kennedy, Paul Merton, Sidney Sloane, Darren Jordon and maybe Billie Piper.

Sorry if there is a thread already covering this but I could'nt be bothered looking beyond the second page of this board.

I believe it starts on October 7th . I don't think there's any news of who will be in it. Just watching GMTV. Ben Shepherd looks pretty fit!

If it starts on 7th, then that is good news indeed. It's a week earlier than last year, which suggests more contestants or perhaps no eliminations in the first week (??)

And it's only 119 days or 17 weeks to go!

Hi Camber, I'm still here. Just quiet for the summer.

Was wondering if we ought to bump Bridget Jones up, so that she doesn't get archived. Then we can start adding to her again with the new series.

I think perhaps this forum might get dropped soon now that SDF has ended?

She seems to have disappeared!
(Is she on a mini break in New Zealand with Brendan Darcey?)

Hi all, cant say I am sure you are right about the start date for SCD4.
My information has it that is starts two weeks earlier than before, you can draw your own conclusions as to the reason for that as i am not supposed to say. the pre show practice also starts two weeks earlier than last time (obviously really as they need the same practice time as before). So beginning of Sept.

Last I heard they had not signed up all the pros yet and it does not follow that all last times have been asked again. Some havent. The celebrities will not be announced until the start of the show unless the press manage to get leaked information.

some info I have not been sworn to secrecy about.

Ian, Camilla and Anton are all taking singing lessons. Dont know why really. Ian has a teriffic voice really powerful and he sings in tune as well.!

Darren Bennet is still suffering from his earlier injury and did not do all that well at Blackpool. It would be a shame if he couldnt do SCD but its a possibility and he has put on weight I am told. Hope he does take part he is such an amazing dancer and he has such a lovley personality.

He did seem to be struggling the other week in Blackpool... poor little Darren!

Seem to have missed something here. How did Darren sustain his injury? and where abouts is said injury? He's got such a lovely nurse to tend to him at home, in the form of Lylia.

I know he did the ice skating thing on ITV but it would be great to see John Barrowman on the next series.

Darren and Lilia have already said that they are definitely doing the next series. I disagree that they did not do that well at Blackpool. They reached the semi-finals in three of the dances, which was way above any other British couple, and unless my eyesight is defective, he has not noticibly put on weight either! I believe they were happy with the way things went after a few weeks off dancing.

Considering the fact that he did not dance for six weeks, due to two torn muscles, and only had about three weeks to train for Blackpool, I think their achievement was even more remarkable, particularly as he was strapped up to dance.

However, if he were not getting over the injury, he obviously would not have competed at all and would have withdrawn, as they did from the Europeans, so I am sure by October he will be well able to do SCD, especially as they are now back doing all their cabarets and demonstrations, which they had to cancel when he was seriously injured.

I do hope the fact that it is starting earlier means no eliminations in the first week, rather than additional couples, as I think there are already enough, more than 12 would be overkill. I also hope that the fact that some pros are taking singing lessons does not mean we will be subjected to some sort of tacky X factor scenario, which I think would drag the show down. Can't really see many, if any, of the professionals sinking to that level though!

It was 8th place overall for Paul and Olga who now represent England. In fact they beat Darren and Lilia in every dance apart from Cha Cha and tied in the Jive.

I didnt see Blackpool at all so was only going by what I was told by one of the judges regarding Darren. Your tone sounds angry and defensive, sorry if i trod on a nerve I was only trying to express my sympathy with Darren re his injury. I have met him and i think he had a lovely personality, it would be a shame if he were not in SCD4 for whatever reason.

The extra two weeks as far as i have heard is for precisely the reason no one would want it to be. Something to do with going head to head with X Factor which starts earlier. Problem so far is getting enough professionals to commit to it . I imagine it will all be sorted out soon though.

Camilla, Ian, Anton and Erin, Darren (?) and Lilia are all supposed to be in it and Brendan.

Just to reassure you, you didn't annoy me at all, and I am not in the least angry or defensive. I was just stating simple facts. Judges say all sorts of things about the dancers, for all sorts of reasons, and this has always been the case over the years. And to get to the semi finals in a competition like the Blackpool Festival is brilliant.

I agree with you about Darren's personality. I have also met him many times, and had tuition with them on a dance weekend, and in fact have him and Lilia booked for an event I am running later in the year. (In fact probably the last one before the start of SCD). They have said they are doing SCD many times recently and apparently confirmed this last Saturday at Jive Riot in Southampton, according to a friend of mine who was present.

I actually would prefer it to start earlier to compete with X factor, than to accommodate more professional dancers and celebrities, as I think the current number is probably the maximum desirable. But I don't really think the BBC should be too worried about the competition!!

If the seven professionals you mentioned are all in it, I am sure that news will keep a lot of people happy, as they seem to be the most popular professionals!!!

Sorry forgot the Cutlers had said they were definitely doing it. Well, if they stick to 12 professionals, that leaves one more male and two female then. I know Andrew and Hanna were hoping to be asked when I spoke to them at Brent early in April, but at the time they didn't know.
