It would be disastrous, in my opinion if they introduced new, off-the-wall dances. Strictly Come dancing is about ballroom and Latin dancing, that is what the professionals specialise in but I do have a feeling that the extra weeks will mean extra dances!
I am disappointed to hear that there will be more couples this series, I think its a dead shame that the BBC keep feeling that they have to outdo themselves every year by continually adding more dancers and new dances. Personally I think it makes the show more tacky, like some SDF spin off!

Anton already thinks the Samba is too much , I can't see him street dancing somehow.

there is no way they will introduce something like street dancing to SCD there are TEN formal modern and latin dances

Mod : waltz, foxtrot, tango, quickstep and V.Waltz
Latin : Rumba Samba cha cha jive and paso doble

couple those with american smooth and argentine tango there are more than enough dances to go round

I was just joking!!
I suppose if they made the Argentine tango an individual dance as opposed to a group dance they might have enough to go round! I think there might need to be one other tho, salsa maybe??
Personally as I've said I'd far rather they stuck to the 10 ballroom and latin, maybe a professional demonstration of the argentine tango and american smooth, but it aint gonna happen!

Don't like having the American styles added in, so much better in series 1 and 2 where we just had the ten International styles danced.

Last series the addition of Argentine Tango, Salsa and Smooth dances was just too much, would hate to see any more on top of that next time.

It's not Strictly Dance Fever, after all!

there is no way in hell formal ballroom and latin dancers COULD or WOULD be asked to dance Street dance or hip hop they would not be able to at least the add on dances like american smooth though I loathe it are akin to ballroom and latin - street dance is not and they would make fools of themselves if they attempted it come on Anton can barely do latin can you imagine him attempting something like hip hop the mind boggles

Completely agree! The thought of Anton attempting hip hop is actually upsetting - not a good image!

Why can't the B.B.C and the like learn to leave things alone, have they never heard the phrase " If it ain't broke, don't mend it ". To me ,last years series was as near perfection as you can get. How can we get them to leave it alone? Look what they've done to "Top of The Pops" by messing with it. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp.

It definately looks as if it will be two extra weeks this time. They go into practice two weeks earlier than last time and the show will start two weeks earlier. I think it is stupid really. The BBC seem to have forgotten that the making of a good show is to leave people wanting more not sicken them off by making it go on longer and longer.

I have resigned myself to the fact that I shall have lost my dance teacher for four months this time. Still there are a couple of months left before then, we had real fun this week when I was trying to learn the paso doble. It was really a lot of laughs learning the choreography. I also learned some of the Samba this week too, and I had never done that before either.

Hi, Ian Waite is my dance teacher. Because he is not always around because of SCD I do have another teacher as well, he is John Byrnes ( was on series 1 ). I have been with Ian longest though, he has a wonderful personality and is funny and pretty outrageous.

Couldn't have said it better myself... to be honest, the strength of the three couples in the final really made last series for me, however I felt that bringing in the Argentine Tango was pointless in itself, let alone the addition of the Salsa (yes, I know I have Salsa dancing friends, but... ) and American Smooth.

To me, I felt it made the series somewhat unpredictable, unlike for example Series 2 where viewers more or less knew which dance each couple would be performing as the weeks went on.

Please, let's have some structure and let's remember to focus on tradition!

Scouse xx
