PLEASE PLEASE get this song out of my head!!!!!

It has one of those annoyingly pleasant melody lines, that wont go away......and makes you think 'I normally hate this sort of thing, why does it sound good'.

Its going to be number 1? Thats terrible, shows what people are saying about the singles chart is true, its in an awful state. And I can get the song out of m head cos I've only heard it a couple of times, not enough so I can remember it, but enough to know I absolutely hate it! If its on the telly I switch it off, and I dont listen to commercial radio if I can help it so I havent heard it thank God!

The thing about soings like these, is that they are perfect examples of 'pop'. If you hate pop then youll hate this. But its a very well constructed pop song, drawing on influences as wide apart as garage and fifties style 'los lobos'...(think of the theme song in 'pulp fiction'.) It has an instantly catchy chorus, it has a dance routine that kids can copy, and its good to dance to.

there are thousands of songs released every year, that try to do the same thing, very very few succeed. yes..everyone will hate it, but it will sell truckloads. LIke 'the birdy song' and 'Agadoo'.

the original version was in spanish, but the uk version is in english, sung, however, in a very strong spanish accent.
the chrous lyrics are....(yes I know, I know )

“I said a hip hop the hippie the hippie / to the hip hip hop, a you don’t stop / the rock it to the bang bang boogie / say up jumped the boogie / to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat.”

I dont think Bob Dylan has anything to worry about

No. The reason it went to number one, is because its a higly listenable, catchy song, with a great hook, and a well constructed chorus.
I liked it the first time I heard it, and I'm a 49 year old rock fan.
I love anything that makes me listen and is interesting, this song is , as I said in another post, a perfect example of a pop song.
I love all sorts of music. The Beatles, Black sabbath, Abba, the carpenters, Led zeppelin,Metallica, Oasis, Pink Floyd, Ottawan, Chuck Berry, BRMC, Nirvana, Beethoven, Charlotte Church, Will Young ....in fact..anything that sounds good to my ears. This song(Ketchup) sounds good to my ears, I dont care how twee it is

ask anyone what their idea of 'decent music' is, and youll get 10 different answers from 10 different people.....

i agree, its not good, but i like it anyway!

And it is quite clever in the chorus... i dunno if the girls singing it are masterminds, or whether its done with computer effects, but each repitition of the chorus goes down a note, and gives it really unique sound.

Their accents must be very strong, because these are actually the lyrics to Rappers Delight by the Sugarhill Gang...

Im glad I wasnt the only one who noticed this.
what they are doing, is in fact changing the key each time.
eg say you have a chord seqeunce that goes, am g f e.(Key C major)
Youd normally sing a melody that utilises they key of c(ie the white notes ). However, this song, tranposes the melody, as if the key was the chord!. eg in my example, the melody would be transposed to the key of am, then f, then g, then e.

Its probabaly why the hook in the chorus is so catchy, because its unexpected, yet familiar, one of the key aspects of a succesfull song.

Because little kiddies wouldn't be able to pronounce the Spanish name of the song. The Spanish version is called "Asereje" (Pronounced = "Ass-say-rah-hay"). The word's in the chorus.

People keep saying that and I don't agree, it hasn't got that strong a melody

The last song I couldn't get out of my head was

'can't get you out of my head' by Kylie Minogue

I've done some searching, here are the Lyrics. Actually a mix of English & Spanish:

Las Ketchup- Asereje (Ketchup Song):

Friday night it's party time
feeling ready looking fine,
viene diego rumbeando,
with the magic in his eyes
checking every girl in sight,
grooving like he does the mambo
he's the man alli en la disco,
playing sexy felling hotter,
he's the king bailando et ritmo ragatanga,
and the dj that he knows well,
on the spot always around twelve,
plays the mix that diego mezcla con la salsa,
y la baila and he dances y la canta

aserejč ja de jč de jebe tu de jebere seibiunouva,
majavi an de bugui an de buididipi,
aserejč ja de jč de jebe tu de jebere seibiunouva,
majavi an de bugui an de buididipi

many think its brujeria,
how he comes and disappears,
every move will hypnotize you,
some will call it chuleria,
others say that its the real,
rastafari afrogitano

he's the man alli en la disco,
playing sexy felling hotter,
he's the king bailando et ritmo ragatanga,
and the dj that he knows well,
on the spot always around twelve,
plays the mix that diego mezcla con la salsa,
y la baila and he dances y la canta

aserejč ja de jč de jebe tu de jebere seibiunouva,
majavi an de bugui an de buididipi,
aserejč ja de jč de jebe tu de jebere seibiunouva,
majavi an de bugui an de buididipi

aserejč ja de jč de jebe tu de jebere seibiunouva,
majavi an de bugui an de buididipi,
aserejč ja de jč de jebe tu de jebere seibiunouva,
majavi an de bugui an de buididipi

aserejč ja de jč de jebe tu de jebere seibiunouva,
majavi an de bugui an de buididipi,
aserejč ja de jč de jebe tu de jebere seibiunouva,
majavi an de bugui an de buididipi
