Have had this tiny PVR for around three weeks now, having replaced my 9200T which worked perfectly for two years but finally would not play back the same days recordings, having to wait seven days before I could gain access to them, even though they were listed in the recordings menu, I decided to ditch it for the newer model.
Having set up the 9300 with the same connections as the 9200 with the exception of the HDMI output which is fed to my HD panel I have found that the machine needs to be switched on if I want to watch any of the other RF outputs from my Sony HXD 995, Thomson Top Up TV or my HD panel.
It seems to me that there isn't any RF loop through unless power is on. I only discovered this anomoly when I did the freeview retune. I started with my TV (No Signal), Sony (No Signal), Top UP (No Signal). As soon as I switched on the Humax all the others did their auto retunes. The strange thing about all this is the Humax is the last RF feed in the chain before the TV. All the others retuned perfectly except for the Humax which has lost ITV 2, 3 and 4 in their appropriate slots, ITV 2 coming in on channel 33 (3 + 4) nowhere to be found, Channel 5 sent to channel 800 and again at 804 (No Signal)
You would think that a respected company like Humax would have gotten things working perfectly for their latest model, having learned from all the faults that I have read on these forums about the 9200T. That stupid recording is starting warning still appears on this model. If I need to copy over to my Sony I always do it in the daytime when the Humax hasn't any programmes set. Any ideas anyone?

I don't have a 9300 but I think the issue is that there are two standby modes. In one of those modes the aerial loop through is off (to minimise power consumption). In the other mode it is on. You should find the setting if you poke about in the menus or a 9300 owner will be along to tell you eactly where to look.

Correct - turn off power saving in sby or if you have a decent signal fit a splitter before the pvr to avoid using the loopthrough

Go to Menu>Preferences>Miscellaneous settings>Power saving in standby. Turn this to OFF. Should do the trick.

Thanks to everyone for your advice, everything is now ok. Pity Humax couldn't put the solution in their operating instructions. This company needs a good kick up the backside at least 10 times!

Been a proud owner of the pvr200 for at least the past 3 years. In all that time never a problem- works as said on the can. Toyed with the idea of Sky+ but why go that unnecessary expense.

I'm using V21 software, how many other manufactures would support their product for so long, especially when they now sell the pvr2300.

One of the most satisfying products I have ever bought.

When Freesat broadcasts more than 2 HD channels, will of course buy a HUMAX Freesat, box never Sky.

But have they continued to support the 9200? The last update was nearly 2 years ago.

What support? It's been nearly two years since the last update. There are several quite serious bugs still affecting the 9200. Randomly vanishing timers has to be the biggest problem for me as it makes it almost useless but the slothful response to the remote for the first twenty minutes after power on is damn annoying as well.

My 9200T is failing also... lots of horizontal bars fading in and out and varing in intensity depending on what colours are being displayed + lag with remote in the morning. I am sure it is the hard drive, so I intend to buy the 9300 very soon.
I would just like to ask you about the picture sharpness and quality of the 9300 compared to your 9200T. I DID have a excellent picture using the 9200T and I hope the 9300 is as good if not better using the HDMI connection.

The reason I ask is I have the Foxsat HDR which never looks as sharp as the 9200 and I dont want to buy the 9300 if it also has a soft picture.
The HD picture on the Foxsat is excellent though, but I am really disappointed with the SD picture quality.

Neither of those sound like hard drive problems to me; what makes you sure? For the first one I would try reseating the SCART leads at both ends; the second one is a common problem with the 9200 and hopefully a software update should emerge at some point that might help.

I agree with you that they sound like a signal fault, but I have removed the scart lead and reversed it ( it is a good quality flat lead with metal connectors, but I should of tried exchanging it will today)
The fault appeared when I moved everything to lay an new carpet so I naturally assumed I had cabled it up wrong but I have double checked every connection.
The only thing I can think off is that I have a short run of co-axil cable running under the carpet so I can have the telly in the opposite side of the room and I thought this could have been damaged, but the LCD television has a perfect picture on it's own tuner.

I have tried the humax 9200T on a different LCD TV supplied with another arial using a new scart lead and the results are the same. Horizontal bands fluctuating on the screen, they look worse as the screen darkens or when it's just one colour displayed.
I have tried to photogragh the screen and this is the best I can do.
I took all the info of the Hard drive when I removed the top to clean out the dust, it is a Seagate DB35.2.
I also removed all the drive connections and reseated them but no luck.
Any ideas welcome, I think I will buy the 9300 if the picture quality is good and try to fix this later.

1. Fails to record at least 12 times, no conflict, no reason.**
a. Records the wrong length for programs by anything over an hour.
b. Misses start of programs.
c. Misses ends of progs.
2. EPG will NEVER EVER populate all channels.**
3. EPG is not always seven days long
4. If chain entered EPG will not remove expired chain, seems to block future recordings.
5. Wrongly flags programs as no chain.
6. Playback locks up, speeds up, jumps, and breaks up.
7. Commercial skip wrecks sound and vision synch**
8. Locks up no response to remote, power switch last resort.
a. Locks up while recording, clock stops.
9. Favourites sometimes revert to TV
10. All favourites lost
11. All Schedule lost
12. Gets aspect ratio wrong**
13. Scart overrides all others even when tv powered up.**

I have a similar problem to you. However my horizontal lines appear as different shades of colour and greys seem worse of all.

I have switched from RGB to CVBS which has made it slightly better but it is slowly getting worse. I did start a thread on here a while ago about this 'Video ouput problem' (or something similar) but all suggested fixes have done nothing.

On a side not my sound is also getting hissy. I now have to turn the sound down on the TV and on full with the humax to avoid getting the hiss. Can have the DVD and Xbox on full blast with the TV with no problems, it only appears on the Humax.

Although my list of faults would be nearly as long, the m/c is a long way from being the worst thing I have ever purchased as the more annoying issues have arisen following the global retune last year. The most recent problems in the list that I have encountered are items 4, 8, 15,16, 17 and 18.

If I have interpretted item 4 correctly, this is probably one of the more annoying issues as although there is only one recording scheduled the m/c insists there are two even though it is shown as the same programme in the warning window that pops up when trying to schedule another recording at the same time. At least this is easily corrected by deleting and re-entering the duplicated programmed.

Regarding Item 15, in my case it seems that descriptions become swapped with previously recorded and deleted programmes but not in any consistent way. However, in the case of 16 I have found that there is in fact only one recording on the disk even though appearing twice list of recordings as deleting either from the list results in the remaining listing being blank and 18 seems to be another manifestation of this.

In addition to the items listed there have been a further three issues as follows:
a) On occasion there have been unprogrammed recordings made that are then not correctly identified in the list.
b) Existing recordings have sometimes been overwritten either in whole or part by these spurious recordings.
c) Possibly associated with the above two items, despite being switched to standby using the remote it does not go fully into standby.

A further annoyance that I have, which may not be a m/c problem, is that when using Series Link on Five, the repeats on Five, Fiver and Five US are also captured but not necessarily all of the time. This of course means that when it does happen recording space is used up needlessly.

Let's hope that the promised over air update happens soon and deals with all of the newly emerging problems.

That problem is due to data corruption, I seem to remember hearing that that is caused by version 1.04 and whilst it is fixed in future versions any existing corruption does not get fixed.

The solution is to remove all programmes you want to watch and then formating the disk in a PC before insterting back in the Humax.

I just reformated in the Humax and that seemed to fix it although since the September EPG changes my buffer is corrupt and its too hidden in my TV stand for easy extraction.

I know one of the thirdparty tools can fix the buffer, I'm not sure if they can fix the corruption that causes duplicate entries in the recording list

HDMI handshaking on the HDR-T2 has major problems! Like I need to tell you. Even using the latest software (1.01.09)

Whenever the HDR is already recording (but not actually fully on), and is switched on to watch another channel, it does not go through the full 'startup' routine, which means that it does not HDMI handshake correctly. Resulting in unstable HDMI connectivity and picture & sound that flashes on and off repetitively and continuously. Which is obviously highly annoying.

Restarting the HDR foreces a full 'startup' and the necessary HDMI handshake. However this often means killing the recording in progress, which is totally unacceptable.

It looks like whenever the HDR is switched on to watch something it needs to go through a full startup so that the necessary HDMI handshake can happen. I'm sure this won't need a significant code change/fix.

Many other people suffering this ?

The only issue my wife has is that you cant schedule recording of certain programms especially Lorraine on ITV HD for some reason ???

I've recently donated my old 9200T to the in-laws, and bought a HDR T2. However I expected all the functionality of the 9200T to be retained but I am disappointed that the following are no longer possible:

1. Why does rewinding and pressing record on the buffer take so long? It seems like the box is copying the buffer. On the 9200 it was a simple file renaming process which was virtually instantaneous.

2. Delete a recording whilst playing, without the need to stop first.

3. Ability to jump to a position in a playback, by typing in the time e.g.0020 to go to 20 minutes in.

4. Playback recording, would be more useful than on 9200T due to USB archiving.

Other general annoyance is that on long running copy / delete operations there is no way hide / minimise the message boxes, so watching tv is almost impossible.

I would like to see the remote control buttons grouped similiar to my old 9200T. There appear to be no logic in their layout. I accept that it isn't going to happen!

It would be even better if all the buttons behaved as implied.

I would like to see (or in this case, not see) something done about the scrolling status when playing back a recording. It is a pain, could it either be made to stand still or just fade away?

I would like to receive the HD programmes without encrpytion, it is a right pain when it comes to backing up.

Its been suggested there is a major bug in the HD-FOX T2. The bug means nobody can manage to play the mpeg2 ts files on a PC . Not even from SD sources. Ideally the mpeg2 ts should be editable to keep just the parts you want but lets start with just getting them to play first.

On the HD-FOX T2 I'd like A-B repeat and replay indefinately on the video media player.

I agree entirely. This 'feature' considerably reduces the usefulness of the portable hard drive. The ability to take the drive on business trips and catch up with TV at ones convenience on a laptop was a very desirable aim....now not possible. I am very disappointed

Is it true that with the HDR T2, if you retune, you lose all scheduled recordings?

yep but you can back it up, somewhere on this site tells you how using a usb device however when i tried it the thing only backed up part of the scheduled recordings, i sent an email to humax but got no reply, this was before the last update infact i think it was december 2010, when i sent email. still nothing back, you would have thought a simple fix
