Transfer of Topfield files/porgrammes to DVD disc
I want to purchase a 'Toppy' but 10% of my recordings I would want to burn to DVD disk [for permanent usuage] and play back on cheap DVD player. My questions are: If I connect the Toppy to my PC what cable connections do I need? Using [Windows XT] will I be able to view the Toppy files on its hard disk using Windows Explorer? My DVD player reads CD-R, CD-RW and MP3 discs. How do I convert the Topfield files to a format that the DVD player can read? What software do I need? I assume once the file conversion takes place I can burn the DVD using my exisiting Nero software. |

Transfer the toppy file to my p.c using the altair transfer program convert the toppy .rec file to a .m2p file using Project X Create a DVD using nero vision express. Theres a guide opn toppy.org.uk that has the above in more detail on www.toppy.org.uk http://www.toppy.org.uk/documents/index.php?catid=2 look for "Making DVDs with ProjectX and Nero (Windows)" |

altair software
Thanks for the info to my last enquiry on data transfer from Toppy to DVD disc. I have located on the net the source to purchase Project X software [to convert a .rec file to .m2p file] However, my search for altair software to see and transfer the files/programmes on the toppy hard disk to my PC prior to file conversion and then burning to DVD has not been successful. Where can I Get it?

Just to avoid possible confusion:
"Altair" is the software you use to transfer files from the Toppy to the PC. The Toppy doesn't appear as a device in Windows Explorer in the way that, for example, a USB memory stick does. If you want to play a recorded file on the PC, there are some programs - for example MPEG Streamclip, or an add-in for Windows Media Player - that will do this. Loads of details on the toppy.org.uk site |
