Kenwood Midi M-97 M : Protect Error
I have a Kenwood Midi M-97 M , with the A-97 amplifier, T-76L Tuner, DP-97 Cd player. This is all connected to 2 speakers.
When I turn the power on after a few seconds I get the "Protect" message I have checked the cables to the speaker and they appear to be ok, I have also tried this by disconnecting the speaker wires, but get the same problem. Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this. .

Which end are you disconnecting the speakers from? if you are taking the wires out of the back of each speaker (might not even be possible in your case) then the fault may still be at the hi-if end where the cables go into the speaker sockets. Check that there are no stray strands of speaker wire stuck in the sockets on the back of the hi-fi.
Failing that, it sounds as though there is an internal short somewhere, or a faulty component which would need looking at by an engineer. |

I had a problem the same as you and the problem occurred for me when i used my bose speakers for both my kenwood stereo and my plasma (it was 2 years ago when they were just glorified pc monitors) and crudely took both feeds to a cheap splitter.
So effectively the problem was a dodgy connection on the outputs so if i were you i'd check the speaker cables, and the connections and failing that you kight need to get an engineer on the case, but that said that might not be cost effective so...... |
