Anyone noticed when they set guideplus to record from ITV 3 that some of the programs start about 3 minutes before time.

This would work but it's a hammer to crack an egg

It's caused by simple update in time schedule.

Unfortunately the scheduled recordings are not dynamic, which is to say if you set a program on Monday to record for next friday and the times change in between, it will update the new time schedule in the grid, but not in your already programmed schedule (you'll record the wrong times which is a shame) - beware when programming too far ahead

of course reseting your whole epg back to factory and loading the whole thing back in and setting the recordings again will do it but you can see why it's not ness

just clearing the recording and setting it again may work (add the titles back & correct timings) but sometimes the actual channel sources seem to become disassociated in which case you can say reset BBC1 to EXT2 (whatever) and it works again

Hey Jethro, the problem some are having is after a couple of months of use program titles stop being tranferred from the EPG so you only get start/stop time and maybe channel info (no prog. title). According to Pioneer techie it's a known issue after approx. 3 months and way round it is to reset unit. You seem to be describing resetting the unit If the program time/s change rather than just keeping an eye on the program and deleting or manually moving the record times, which is a tad excessive as you say I get this a lot when recording Waking the Dead at 1ish in the morning as it moves 10-15 minutes so have to keep an eye on the regular setup from week to week.

Program titles disapperaing is same/connected issue

Next time it happens - delete the programmed recording - set BBC1 to EXT1, then back to EXT2 (whatever channel/source)

much quicker than resetting to factory and you dont have to wait (24 hours) for schedules to load back in

Cheers Jethro. I'll give it a try in 2 months when it's next due to happen. I remember trying to delete the program, waiting unti the next EPG update etc. but didn't try altering BBC1 (are you literally saying BBC1 or the channel effected?)

The channel (and source) affected e.g.

If you have Film4+1 on Ext1

change the source to 'Ext2' then back to 'Ext1'

It usually affects all channels at same time (as if they gone outta sync) but you can reset them all this way in just a couple of minutes

I'm using Philips but I have the same problem with Guide+ - and this method works for me and beleive me, I've tried em all

Mine didn't even last 3 months after the reset at Christmas, the weird thing is I bought mine last March and it worked up until November. Do Pioneer have any plans to fix this problem as it is a really annoying problem especially if you have lots of shows that get recorded weekly.

Nope. Seems Pionners view is the x30 range is now old product.

I've asked them about this and the aspect freezing problem along with (theoretically) easy to add features that are in the x40 range such as +R disks, DivX and received the "sorry but we're wroking on the next range now!" Would have expected better treatment from Pioneer and a little more futureproofing but...

As good as the product is I can't say Pionner will be at the top of my list when it comes to buying my next gen. recorder/player.

The amount of time it takes for this problem to rear its ugly head depends on the amount of usage of the Guide Plus system i.e. The more you use it the less time it will take for this problem to occur

Also, FYI, there may be some movement from Pioneer with regards to making a release that will resolve this problem. We shall have to wait and see.

You sure G.O? I use mine all the time (in preference to Skys EPG) and only get the problem every 3+ months.. atm.

Good news about the possible update. Wonder If they will ad any other feautres such as ability to use +R discs or DivX?
