How do I connect my LCD to a Laptop?

Hi I have just bought a new Samsung R7 series HDReady LCD TV and would like some advice on the best way of connecting it to my new laptop.
http://www.samsung.com/uk/products/...26r73bdxxeu.asp
In the instuctions manual under 'Connecting HDMI/DVI' it says:
'Do not attempt to connect the HDMI/DVI to a PC or Laptop Graphics Card'. (This will result in a blank screen being displayed). Also in the back of the manual under 'Setting the PC' it also says 'DVI does not support PC function'
It says to connect the computer:
'Connect the D-Sub cable (optional) to "PC (PC IN)" on the rear of your set and the other end to the video card of your computer'
I've read elsewhere that a DVI connection is better as it is digital to digital and there's no analog to digital conversion needed. Also I have read that it depends on the quality and the electronics on the LCD. Since my Samsung is brand new and cost £639 ($1200) and clearly doesn't use DVI for PC connection, I can only assume that there is a reason for this and the picture quality will still be optimum by connecting the PC by the way it says. Do you know? and what sort of cable do I need to buy and will I still get optimum picture quality?
Kind Regards Chris

Never mind. I gather i need a male to male VGA and the electronics in the Samsung is such that the picture quality will be optimum even with the analog to digital conversion that is needed when using the VGA. Clearly they design it this way for a reason. Can anyone confirm that it is a male to male VGA cable that I will need as I haven't decided on the laptop I want to buy yet as the new 64bit merom Intel Core 2Duo processor is coming out in August so I will probably wait for it unless I decide to go for an AMD turion?

aslong as your laptop has a vga output, then thats the cable you will need if it only has DVI, then there are convertors avalible for about £10
