Samsung DVD HD-860 DVD Player
Hi all,
I have just bought one of the above with the intention of playing HD Divx. I have acquired a few 720p Divx films and wanted a player that would do the job. Unfortunately the Samsung doesn't deliver. Does it actually have the capabilty to output native resolution or is it just a gimmicky divx/dvd player?? I have looked around for any support but can't find any help whether it will actually play 720p divx. It does, however upscale standard divx very averagely. The only reason I bought this player is because my pc can easily output native hd but I cannot figure out how to get the optical out on my SB Audigy 4 card to output anything. Any ideas on either would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all your help guys. I presume that there's no stand-alone player that is capable of playing 720p or 1080i divx files yet.

I don't think you will find a simple DVD player that does what you want due to the non-standard resolution however the media players that incorporate a DVD drive should do the trick.
They are in essences an extension of a PC and connect either via LAN or wireless link although if you could get the optical output of the soundcard to work you would be in business
