Has anyone successfully upgraded their hard drive for Topfield satellite pvr

Basically can anyone tell me,what problems you may expect(if any),if you install a larger capacity hard drive, than the recommended maximum size stated by Topfield.
This relates particularly to the Topfield 4000pvr(twin tuner).
Topfield recommend 160gb for the TF4000 pvr,but I am thinking about upgrading to 300gb,only if this 100% problem free.
Thanks.

I don't think you'll find many people on here who'll have one of these. You could try the satellite section.

In answer to your question, it'll ether work or it won't. However, I have a 250GB HDD on my sat PVR and because there is no EPG I hardly ever record anything; so you may find 160GB adequate.

Hi mate,

I have converted my Topfield 5500 (sat) to a caddy system, simply pull out the disk and whack it in yuor pc.

Thanks for that manikm.

That link you posted displays an error,as rhubarbe has pointed out.
Can you explain a caddy system,is it putting the pvr hard drive in to a hdd enclosure to upload programs to pc,as I am aware that's possible.
As rhubarbe has pointed out the outcome of exceeding the pvr's recommended capacity,I'll stick with the present capacity.
Thanks rhubarbe and manikm.

Thanks guys!

Im tempted to go with the toppy cos i reckon i will be able to caddy the disks, which means no SLOW USB tranfers.

I have already done this with my Satellite Toppy 5500.

With a couple of these:
