Am I dreaming or can you get a new 5th gen IPOD (30GB) from

Yep been this price for ages. Paid £149.99 for one from Reporo a few months ago.
I think you can get them for around £170 with a voucher on the Link website - offer may of finished now though. |

Apple reduced the price by not supplying the "wall-wart" charger or the Firewire cable. Firewire is really only needed for Apple Macs, however (shot in the foot?) and you can get a charger very cheaply off eBay.

Because my G4 towers and my G3 iBook don't have USB2 ports. (Well, one of the G4s has now because I fitted a PCI card).

I thought the 5gs didn't support Firewire except for charging... one of the reasons why I don't want a 5g as it doesn't support synchronising by Firewire

![]() The required component was too big to keep in the iPod and it makes financial sense for Apple to market the iPod as supporting USB only as most users will have a USB port of some variety (even if it is only 1.1). They do not have to include 2 cables anymore and one power adaptor can be produced that covers all models introduced since 2004. |
