... this time it's The Who at Leeds University. Tickets went on presale this morning, sold out immediately, now the bastards are selling them on on eBay.
It's 2100 ish capacity. I checked ebay yesterday and there were 54 separate auctions. They had between 1 and 4 tickets. At a guess, I'd say about 100 tickets on there, and that's now. And I'm sure there will be many more to come...
Very selfish of me, but I've got my ticket and I wouldn't give it up for the world.

It's not selfish to buy a ticket so you can go to the gig.
Dunno if it's across the board but the ticket agents in Ireland seem to be holding back a certain amount of tickets until a few days before any sold out gigs are on, so that touts can't get all of them & sell them on at extortionate prices to the genuine fans. Keep your eyes peeled coming up to the gig & maybe you'll get a ticket!
Apparently, in Belgium the promoters and ticket agencies have entered into what they call a "gentlemen's agreement" with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, whereby every ticket sold for certain high profile gigs will carry a unique barcode and the name of the person who bought it. Doesn't sound too impressive so far, but... the Ministry of Economic Affairs will be carrying out random checks at gigs and if a ticket is found to have been sold on (at what the Belgians call "usurious prices") on the internet the ticket will be cancelled. Likewise, if tickets are found on sale on the web at "usurious prices" they will be cancelled.
So hats off to the Belgians and their war on usurious prices. They have some good gigs there, too - the Werchter Festival has a great line-up.

If you want to see something really stupid, have a look at the price of this winters Ashes tickets on eBay - nobody will pay that, nobody wants to go that much

I've been glad of ebay when something came up and I couldn't go to a concert. People will abuse it, but it does have its uses. same way people can actually get some tickets cheaper on ebay

I agree - either of those methods would have a big impact on these degenerate con artists! Either way, they need to be stopped - there's absolutely no excuse for what they do or the fact they make money via this method. It's not business, it's greed - and needs to be stamped out!

In cases like that, you should be able to return the ticket to the original vendor for a refund and they could then resell it at face value to another genuine fan.

Sorry, I hadn't thought of things like that. I agree that touting is wrong - but there's always going to be people who spoil things for the rest of us

Sadly, that's true. I still believe there needs to be much stricter regulations and laws in place to stop this kind of thing. Ticket touts are lowlife slime. They rip people off - and sometimes - especially in the case of ebay, don't even deliver the tickets on time! It needs to be stopped now - by allowing tickets to be sold, ebay are helping these degenerates and condoning the fact they rip people off!

Stopping them being sold is the only method of erasing this. If they can't sell them, touts are stuffed. By giving them a way to make money they will - and find other ways around any such restrictions.

Do many people buy a house at 9 a.m. and then put it back on the market at a higher price at 9:01 a.m. because they've realised they don't need it after all?

But if the house was worth 100 at 9 and 120 at 9.01 then YES.
Just like stocks and shares..............
A week or 2 before the concert, you often find them on Ebay at cost or less, a couple of years ago I remember Rolling Stones tickets going for crazy prices just after box office sell out, nearer to the date tickets were selling at a loss.

Exactly I saw Bloc Party, Prodigy and got an extra ticket to V last year all for less than the tickets cost. They all went on sale about a week before i got paid so I couldn't get them straight away and also I can't stay on the work phone all day on hold. If nobody paid stupid prices for tickets they wouldn't have a market

Ticket touting isn't murder but it's still a serious, punishable, misdemeanour.”
He said "hanging is too good for them". Is that relative?

Indeed - I got Sigur Ros tickets at lower than face value, even with postage added, back in March...
I have found it can go either way, like for Justin Timberlake I got 2 very good tickets cheap but sold 1 tickets for Justin's 1st tour for a very high amount! Same as Take That, I bought 2 golden circle tickets on there last week, for £110 but then found out i couldn't go & only got back face value for them when i sold them!
I agree that the ticket touts are totally out of order but should the normal folk like myself who has a genuine reason to sell/buy the odd ticket be made to suffer by banning the sales altogether???
