I have a Pace Sky + box, a Panasonic DVD rec, and a Pansonic Pro Logic TV. If I was to purchase an amplifier, based on the items I have, what would be the best way to connect them all together?

I'm assuming optical cable from DVD rec to amp, and from Sky + to amp (if amp has two optical inputs), but how would you connect the TV - would that go to the amp, or to either the Sky + or DVD rec via scart? If it goes to the amp, would that be scart too, or phono?

Any advice gratefully received, guys.

There's a lot of variables involved, what is your budget?

The sound goes to the amp, the video goes to the tv.

Depending on the video outputs available on your hardware I'd suggest using the SCART connnections from your Pace Sky + box & Panasonic DVD to the TV.

For the audio, it purely depends on how much you want to spend!

Panny TV has two scarts.
Panny DVD rec has two scarts and an optical ouput, same with Sky +.

Apologies, are we saying that the optical cable only carries the sound?

Forget budget (within reason) , what would be the best case scenario to connect all the devices?

Connect Sky+ and the Panny DVDR using optical (toslink) cables.

Additionally, add a phono audio L/R pair from the back of the TV to an AUX phono input in the amp. This will take care of all the 'other' non-digital sounds you might have - analog TV, VCR etc. Just let the sound from the TV be apmplified this way and turn the TV sound right down.

you will then get pro-logic II on all these other sounds.
