DOS

Does anyone know whether you should put ICE contacts on to the SIM card, or store it in the phone?

Thanks for your help

"In Case of Emergancy". You put 'ICE' in front of anyones names on your phone who you would call in an emergancy.
If you were in an accident, the paramedics/nurses would type 'ICE' on your phone, so they can quickly call the right person, without all the hassle of meddling through your phone.

SIM or Phone? Im not sure but mines saved to my SIM. I don't think it really matters to be honest!

Why don't you put it on Sim & Phone?

Edit: Sorry that should have been directed at DOS!

SIM has more chance of surviving, where
as the phone might be cabbaged after
certain accidents... logic!!

"ICE" is an urban myth. No police or ambulance authority has ever called for it. They'd soon find your relatives with a couple of random calls in most cases.

Or by looking for mam, dad, uncle x, nana x, aunt x in your phone, or seeing who is in the list of last dialled.

If you press 1# it picks the first number stored 2# the second and so on.

Or at least my Motorola did and today my Siemens does the same.

Really? This page seems to suggest it is genuine. Are you confusing things with the ICE hoax email?

Load of rubbish not worth doing!!

My other half and myself were involved in a head on car crash. Both of us well out of it. We both had ICE on the the Phones we were carrying, we also had 'next of kin' cards(as given out by hospitals) in our wallets/purse. Neither were used, information was gathered from the registration no. of the car (for our address) then the neighbours for eerything else.

Ambulance crews have been told NOT to look in wallets as some idiots have claimed all the money has been stolen from them(yea right )

So now we wear Id Jewelery with all the info in, as it has more chance of reaching the hospital with you.

That is interesting.

If the ID Jewellery doesn't work.

I guess the next step is to have the phone number Tattoed, lol.

Funny you should mention that. While in hospital I asked and they said the jewellrey is best as a bracelet as a neck chain is easy to be damaged and lost by paramedics.

As for the tattoo, you could have one with all the details on including your blood group. But UK hospitals would still check the blood group was right before they needed to give you more to cover themselves from negligence.

Doesn't work too well when contacts have been added and removed over the years, synced via Outlook, fMa, SyncML and Infrared/Bluetoothed across various handsets across two networks (One2One/Orange/T-Mobile) and three brands (Motorola/Sony/SonyEricsson)

1# on my D750i is "Z T-MobileCzechEn/M", it's number 20 before you get to my mums numbers (or anyone useful for that matter - "Z Seeboard/W", "Z Central Netw/W", "Z Nat Rail Enq/W" and "Z Dir Enq BT/W" arn't going to be much use in an Emergancy are they?), and 115 before you get to me dad

As has already been pointed out the East Anglia Ambulance service support it, as does NHS Wales and the Welsh Ambulance Service http://www.wales.nhs.uk/newsitem.cfm?contentid=3704

If you search the NHS England website http://www.nhs.uk/england/searchResu...d&q=ice+mobile you will also see that ICE has been in a few bulletin's as well, although it doesn't appear to be have been officially announced (unlike NHS Wales)

Vodafone are also supporting it http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatc...585&wt_oss=ice

Although you might think it is obvious that you'd want them to contact your mum, for a lot of people whose parents are older they may not want them to receive that phone call. I'd imagine most married people would prefer their spouse to be the person contacted, but they'd usually be listed by name not just as "wife", so it would not be so obvious who to call by just looking at the names in the phone.

And then there are those people who's relationships with there mum is poor, and who wouldn't want them to make descisions on their behalf in an emergancy, but would rather have there partner or other relative (e.g. sister or dad) make those descisions
