I Just Bought A Philips DVP 5960 dvd player
On first days use it is brilliant its played the Tennant Dr Who XviD's i have encoded and the picture quality on my 4:3 panasonic CRT is near perfect ( although i have encoded at 10 meg per minute ) , and it can also play the second audio director/actor commentary streams i have put on the XviD's. The player also has a USB port on the front which when i plugged in my ipod it recognised it but the menu to navigate through the MP3's is disastrous and makes it near impossible to search for a particular song or artist, maybe that is a problem with the ipod in particular, in the manual it says that you can't view video via the usb port, but i put crucial usb flash drive in that had an avi file on and the player played it no problem. In a week i am going to get a external hard drive enclosure and put a spare hd in and put all my XviDs and MP3's on and fingers crossed it should play em.
I hope ths helps anyone thinking of buying one, and if anyone has any not too techncal questions answering about the player i will be happy to answer em |

Let's hope your DVD player lasts longer than most other Philips stuff
