Coronation Street - Maria Sutherland
I am glad that Maria is finally getting something to do - no matter how small!
I am surprised that Samia Smith has stayed at Coronation Street for so long; there is so much the writers could do with Maria yet they are quite frankly lazy. Putting her back with Tyrone was one of the laziest things they did - and they split them up very quickly once he got a sniff of Molly. Maria has much potential as a good character, I think that she is high on Steve Frost's "to do" list. |

I am glad there is so much scope for Maria. Looking forward to her getting together with this new addition soon.

Maria was a character which I didn't know whether I liked or not but after the scenes with David I have decided I like her
Maybe a fling with David later in the year? Funny how a character can change in your mind in the smallest of scenes, she would have been quite high on my axe list but i quite like her know so she wouldn't be on it. |

Maria's crap - and another example of how the cast of Corrie is too bloated. I wouldn't miss her if she simply disappeared from the show.

I think they need to give Maria a storyline that doesn't involve her getting a man Leaveher single for a while.
We always hear how she wants her own salon. Why not have her fall out with Audreyand set up in competition. |

I don't think Maria's a very good character. I liked her before she got back together with Tyrone for the most recent time, but after that I realised she wasn't all that great.
A relationship with David would be interesting though. |

A refurbishment and possible extension(?) of the salon would be fantastic, as well as a vibrant new staff with which Maria can work. |

I would like to see Maria "step out on her own" and do something worthwhile as a solo character.

I think it's tragic that a good character like Maria is constantly ignored while dross like Tracey Barlow is overused to the extreme.
They really need to give Samia Smith something to get her teeth into because she is just becoming a non-entity. |

As Butters said, Maria is being sidelined for constant concentration on female characters like Tracy and Sarah. Samia has played the role of Maria now for 6 (yes, six) years, yet the writers are still holding back at giving both the character and the actress any real opportunity. |

And this new rich boyfriend could maybe lend her the money for the salon

That's what I was thinking.
I like the idea of him trying to control her psychologically, but I do hope it's not a repeat of the awful Charlie/Shelly storyline. |

Wasn't the whole "delusions of grandeur" thing, Candice's speciality? She stayed with Warren due to visions of wealth etc.. plus, she quit the salon to move on to "better things" too....
