Hi guys,

I am writing to ask for your help in picking a new mobile phone!

Right, I am really interested in purchasing the Sony Ericcson K750i phone, especially for the range of features it has on it (2 megapixel camera, FM Radio etc.) and because of it's appearence.

However, after reading lots of reports about the joystick sticking on the K750i, it's led to me considering other options but I can't find anything which looks as good and has the same or better features of the K750i.

Has anyone got any suggestions? Is the joystick on the K750i as bad as some of the reports I've been looking into or is it worth risking?

Thanks in advance guys!

Are you a fan of Nokias? How about the 6280?

Just been thinking ..

Wouldn't it be better for me to get the N80 instead? It's got much better spec and is only slightly bigger.

I know it's not as attractive as the K750i or the 6280 but for the spec alone, it must win it.

What do you guys think?

First question really, are planning to buy the phone outright and use it with a PAYG SIM?

If so, I'd stick with the original choice of the K750i if I were you.

If you're worried about reliability on the joystick of the K750i, have a look at the review of the 6280 here ...

http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/nokia-6280.htm

... looks like it has reliability problems as well.

As for the N80 .... yeah, it's a nice phone, but if you want to buy it on PAYG it'll cost you an arm and a leg compared to what you can pick a K750i up for.

Myself, I have a K750i I got off Ebay and I'm well pleased with it. Really nice phone and I'm pleased to say, the joystick on it is absolutely fine.

If it's a contract/upgrade phone though, and you can wangle an N80 out of your provider then thats a totally different story ......

Thanks for your reply, sancheeez.

Well, I don't mind going onto a contract. Iam currently on PAYG but have seen the N80 on o2 online for a good price, which I don't mind paying.

Looks like it's going to be the N80 then ?

I had a K750i from July 2005 - May 2006 and the joystick worked perfectly. Only the phone broke after I dropped it down some concrete steps in town

Oooh! Dam it!

You've given me food for thought now! The K800i does look very promising. However, If I did go for that one, I wouldn't mind it on one of T-Mobile's Relax 12 month tariffs. They are currently giving an extra 500 free texts but only until the end of the month.

Pushing my luck a bit?

Thanks alot guys for your replies!

lots of people have had trouble with the joystick just a thing that will happen with it as it is a delicate joystick and some people are heavy handed with the phones. i had an orange spv e200 and had 9 replacements same problem with them all, joystick fault and buttons sticking. just the luck of the draw. but imo w810i is a much better phone tbh

I would love for it to be released on T-Mobile, as I previously said. If it's released on 26th and the Relax tariff promo finishes on 30th, I don't think it's going to be released on their website in time, knowing phone companies!

Looks like get it on o2 too!

I just got the SE 810i on Orange with 500a/n mins 150 F/L mins and 1100 text for £30 month but already have broadband off Orange/Wanadoo so it's only costing me £12 a month.
