Help with my SLVR please...
Hi,
Just changed mobile phone to a Motorola SLVR L7 Red from a Sony Ericsson T610. I have had Ericssons for years and understand how they work, but despite reading the Moto's instructions I am still confused by some of the options as it differs greatly from my old phones. At the moment my key questions relate to the ring tone profiles. Within each of the profiles there are various options, but I am confused as to what some are for... The options are: Calls - Clearly the selection for incoming phone calls Messages - New SMS and MMS messages I imagine Voicemail - How does this work - at the moment I am with Vodafone and receive a text if I get a voicemail Info Svcs - what? Alarms - What alarms? When I set an alarm through the "extras" menu it asked separately what sound I wanted for that Data and Fax Calls - not applicable I think Ringer IDs - I understand this is to apply certain rings to individual numbers Key Volume - self explanatory Reminders - reminders of what? Hope someone can help me (and yes I have read the manual!) Thanks in Advance. |

Alarms - possibly that have been set from your calander?????
Reminders - same as above Info services - you can subscribe to these from your network, they are things like football scores, news etc I hope that helps |

Thanks for your help so far. The alarms relating to the calendar would make sense, not so sure about reminders though - why have 2 options for the same thing? I friend of mine suggested that the reminders is probably for text messages that haven't yet been read. Will need to do some testing.
Anyone else got any ideas? |

Reminders are actually about whether you want the phone to beep after you receive a text/call, to let you know about it - say your phone goes off and you don't hear it, turning the reminders on will mean it beeps periodically to let you know to check your phone.
Hope that helps muffster |

Muffster,
Thanks for that. Now it is all starting to make sense. I have switched reminders off for all profiles at the moment after leaving my phone on the desk and coming back into the office 1hr later to find my colleagues saying my phone had kept "ringing", when in fact I had had only one missed call and one text. Just need to work out how best to use the moto profiles. I used to have most of my profiles vibrate and ring (covers being in the pocket while out and about and also leaving on the desk) but I see that now I have only one profile which allows vibrate and ring. Thought everyone was joking when they said motos were the most difficult to use. |
