Toppy Vibration
I've had my Topfield for nearly half a year and it is a fantastic piece of kit, but in the past couple of weeks it has started vibrating and making a rather irratating noise.
It appears to be the main case making contact with the front panel (if I put my hand against the panel it stops). Anybody come across this or got a handy solution? |

Some people have been able to fix this by removing the top panel and flexing it. The aim is to slightly change shape by the amount your hand pressure does. It's a bit hit and miss so it might take several attempts.
The usual warnings apply - watch you don't electrocute yourself and remember this will void the warranty. If these worry you then maybe talking to your supplier about a replacement might be better. Edit: The other approach is to try isolating your Toppy by sitting on something that absorbs sound. Foam, polystyrene, big rubber feet etc. have all been used. |

I've found that the toppy likes to be resting on all 4 feet.
Mine lives on top of my tv and unless all 4 feet are in contact with the tv case it makes a terrible vibrating noise. Found this as it got nudged once so only the front two feet were in contact with the tv case. I've also found that if need be disabling the "rewind live tv" function which lets the hard drive go to sleep also makes the toppy much quieter. Hope that helps. |
