RF2 output capabilities
Hello all – I wonder if you can help me ?
I am considering buying either the Humax 9200 or Toppy 5800 and I have a query about connectivity / whether one of the boxes has an edge. Wife and I will be watching the PVR in the living room, connected to our TV via Scart. We will use the RF2 output on the PVR to feed a booster which will send the RF 2 signal to the kids room. Could anyone please tell me : is it possible for us to watch one channel, and the kids another through the RF2 output ? could the kids watch a recording through the RF2 output, whilst we watch a live program. Any help would be greatly appreciated – as I intend to use Freeview as the main source of viewing from herein (rather than flitting between analogue and Sky) program clashes between the kids and us could soon be a problem. Many thanks to anyone who can help - and Yes I have also posted this in the Hummy forum for their owners' views. |

No - The RF2 output is the same as the scart output. could the kids watch a recording through the RF2 output, whilst we watch a live program. Yes |

Both SCART and RF output are the same. I have to say the RF output is not great compared to the SCART, but as I never use it I'm not worried.
One criticism I did read of the Toppy was signal deterioration through the twin tuners, so be aware of this if you intend to daisy chain your RF signal. All that said, I think the Toppy is a great box, I'm very pleased with mine. |

Yes Yes, you can watch one recording from the Toppy over UHF (RF) BUT you would then be limited to watching a channel via normal TV or use another DTT box to recieve it. The toppy can only output one signal to any source at a time. Best arrangment may be for you to look at hooking up RF for playback of toppy recordings but to also look at a cheap set top box for use in another room when the toppy is in use. |
