Hi guys,

I recently installed this TAP - i cant figure out how to change settings, once you've run the initial scan...

It has three options when first installed (into autostart) - after youve done the SCAN NOW option - how can i further configure settings such as how long it scans per channel etc.

Does it do a scheduled scan every day or once a week. (how can i change this)

Also, .whats the difference between a scheduled scan and a background scan.

I must say this TAP along with MYSTUF 4.5 work brilliantly, i have a full weeks worth of EPG to choose from!!

Thanks!!!

The readme file that came with the tap explains these features, but from what I remember:

A scheduled scan scans all the channels for as much EPG data as possible.
The background scan scans the current channel that you are watching.

See the readme file about the other settings!

Pressing the Recall button should activate the settings menu unless that's been changed (the button below 7).

LOL
beleive me , i read the readme....

but it seemed to suggest you could get to other settings (ie more complex settings such as how long a channel scan would scan for etc...)

the other settings are just the 3 when u press the recall button. nothing actually to change, such as a daily scan, weekly scan etc...

the ini files are fairly comprehensive, and it says you shouldnt edit these manually, but use the settings menu, but from what i can gather i can't find a settings menu once the tap is first installed.

cheers guys!!

You cannot edit the other eit2mei settings from the Toppy - you need to edit the .ini file on a PC and then copy back to the Toppy.

You can change advanced settings by editng the eit2mei.ini file on a PC. These settings however very seldom need changed so unless you have a definite reason you're best leaving them alone. The defaults work pretty well.

About the only thing you may need to change is when the scheduled scan happens, and what key you want to activate the tap. These can be done from the configuration menu - press the "Recall" key to get there (assuming you didn't change it).

There is no weekly option - you do a scheduled scan once per day. You can set the time this happens, or disable it, both from the configuration menu.

A background scan runs when the Topfield is idle and collects whatever EPG information is there. Because of the way the Topfield firmware works this means you only get those channels you have been watching.

To get round this a scheduled scan runs once per day and switches to each channel in turn to collect EPG data. This populates those channels you don't normally watch.
