Error No. U80

I have only had my DMR-EX85 about 1 week, yet 3 times now it has suddenly given a grey screen and displayed U80 on the display. It was simply while watching Freeview, no DVD or HDD activity. The specific error is not listed in the manual, which advises that general errors are solved by switching off and on again. This works ok (takes about 1 minute though), but I'm worried that if this happens while I'm not watching it will fail to record scheduled events.

Any ideas?

I also have another criticism of the unit's messages.
While watching Freeview after a while it puts a message across the centre of the picture to say that the HDD is going to sleep. After this the display in the unit shows SLEEP instead of the channel being watched. Frankly I care much more about seeing the picture I'm watching and being able to see what channel I am tuned to than knowing that the hard drive has gone to sleep.
I know I can set the drive select to DVD and it won't happen, but then the children get confused about how to play HDD recordings because nothing shows up when they open the Navigator if the drive select is not set to HDD.

our department. To clarify, U80 indicates either that poor quality or

My machine is ok now. This code showed up 10-12 days ago but has not shown since. I'll keep my eye on it all the same. I found the code meanings from a manual I D/loaded for model DMR eh 60 a european model I guess. There is no mention of these codes in the UK manual though. Thanks for your reply Gavtech”

Hmm. I didn't have any type of disc in the drive, nor was I using the HDD; just watching Freeview.
