Well done - that'll save callers having to pay their provider's minimum call charge when they get your 1571 'answering machine' when you're on the phone.

If you set your new answering machine to 9 rings, you can tell your friends in advance that, if the phone rings 7 times and you don't answer, they can either hang on a couple more rings and leave you a message or hang up and save themselves money.

You can turn BT 1571 off online if you have online access to your account but it's probably quicker to phone 0800 800 150 and ask for it to be done.

Or even quicker by calling the direct line for BT messaging services: 0800-077-771 8am-6pm monday to saturday.
