Nokia N80 Car Kit
Does anyone know if there's an adapter available for my Nokia CARK-91 (for use on Nokia 6310i etc) hands-free car kit that's also compatible with my Nokia N80 which is 'Pop-Port'?
I've seen several Pop-Port adapters and other leads that can plug-into the existing kit for use with 'Pop Port' 'phones but none of the companies that supply these things can give me a straight answer. |

A BT kit doesn't answer my problem. Firstly, a Pop Port adapter would save me from having to repace/rewire my exsting kit, and secondly, using an adapter means the phone is sat securely in a cradle where it will be charged up, and can use the car aerial etc.

1- There is no cable connection for N80
2- A BT car kit could be a HF-6W which requires no wires at all. Or a CARK-616 which can reuse most of your existing installation, only adding the screen/controller (and gives a superb clarity of voice call). 3- Nokia produce a universal holder for the N80 if you really want to view the phone. None of the above cater for your power issue, but thats the way it is. |

Thanks andybno1, the first product is the one I had spotted when I started this thread and your right it doesn't mention the N80.
The second product is simply for enabling a standard headphone jack to plug into a Pop Port phone so that's no good either. |

Hi BT&home. I fear you are probably right, but I'd like to know for sure. The 616 kit looks great, but is hugely expensive. I don't suppose you know whether you can just purchase the screen and controller without the rest?

I'm afraid not, as you would need the control box aswell and those bits are where the money is. The good thing is that you can keep the speaker/microphone and probably the wiring aswell. So long as any new phone has BT then you should be OK for many many years. I have the 616 and certainly wouldn't want any other carkit anymore.
The alternative would the CK-7W that offers BT connection, or cable connection for some models (not the N80). |

We use the CK-7W kit at work, they are pretty good to be honest.
You may find that Nokia release a cradle for N80 shortly. You can then use either the inbuilt bluetooth or the pop-port to connect it directly to the car kit. |
