Have I made a mistake buying a Topfield

ooooo...way off topic now. So, getting back to the original question:

"Have I made a mistake buying a Topfield?".

Well, yes, I'm afraid you have. What you want is a Citroen (or possibly a TVR). All have a fan, are pretty quick and support chase play. Neither switch off without user intervention post-use, I believe, but perhaps someone could clarify?

My dad had two of them (CX GTi), because his company car allowance was 85% of the price of a Rover 3500 (the old police jam sandwich squad car), and he has had Citroens ever since 1978. The first one, the CX2400GTi was very very fast indeed and even the replacement, to my great disappointment a diesel, was no slowcoach.

DS for me though. You still see them all over the place in Paris.

I once had a CX2400 Prestige, which felt a bit sluggish (it was an auto, too, but a Series I, with the fabulous retro drum style speedo); the current play thing is a 25 GTi Turbo.

The D is the most fun to drive though, and always turns heads. The 50th Jubilee weekend in Paris was amazing - everywhere you looked, there were just lines and lines of them - they had a convoy of 1600 from Arc de Triomphe to the Tower.

I tend to see more of them in the Netherlands than in France, though; last time I took mine into Paris I had to go from La Defense to Gare du Nord in the rush hour. They really don't quite get roundabouts in Paris, do they? At Place Maillot, I just thought "Sod it; I'm driving an icon, so they can get out of my way" then pointed at the exit I wanted and headed straight for it.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but OK I'll let it go

And did they?

Indeed they did!

Had it been a Bentley they'd have seen it more as a challenge to their Gallic pride, I suspect. You chose the right car.

No and they insist on going round them the wrong way. Will they never learn.
I can never forgive the French anway; one they have a wine lake and we dont. Two; The Scart; there must be a better way.

Well, good news on the scart. Its use has been banned as of this morning because it was invented by a M. Zidane and he doesn't want you to use it any more.

He says you know what'll happen if he catches you using one.

If they were content merely to go round roundabouts in one direction, that would be fine. It's the general air of a free-for all that makes them so invigoration. Plus the bonkers application of rightwards priority, of course.

What about Priorité a Droit? That used to be such fun for British motorists arriving at Calais for the first time. Mind you, we got the b*ggers back after dark when we left the pub. Well dazzled they were.

Could we keep this thread on-topic please?

Thanks,

Wow, the first car I ever drove.

Kangarooing it all the way down the street - Looked like a hip hop video.

Loved the speedo - hated the self balding front tyres.

Oops - sorry

Don't think those are reason enough to regret getting a Toppy - Think of the positives instead.

What on earth for? It wasn't about anything in the first place.

Have you guys considered a 1993 Skoda Estate. The last of the czec manufactor? Doesn't worry about temperature at all as long as you change the oil and spark plugs every year.
Must find space in it for a toppy
