Yes, but the poster is asking if the radio still works. The headset lead is part (if not all) of the radios antenna.

Ah Yes of course! I didn't think of that!

But even still normal headsets would do the same thing?

I tried by asking to cancel my account as the phone i have is now unsuitable and i wasn't happy with it or the tariff that i'm currently on and i could get a much better deal else where and she said 'if it's a cancellation that you want then i can put you through to the cancellations department but becuase your only 6 months into your contract you will have to pay off the remainding cost of your current handset'

How the hell do you all do it? It didn't work for me!”

Unless you spend loads of money there is no way o2 are going to upgrade you 6 months in to your contract.

If you want to disconnect they'll let you pay your line rental up, but you still wont get the phone. Unless you pay full price for it.

12 month contracts are there for a reason.

I know, this is my second contract with o2 and i would have been happy to keep the phone i've got until the end of my contract but the k750i is not all what it was said to be. after having it for six months the joystick is starting to fail which at times is very annoying, Just like the joysticks on the k500i. After a while they start going funny.

I would ask for it to be fixed and keep the same phone but how long would it take to just go the same? I would have thought that if your paying for something you should be able to change it if your not happy, this obviously isn't the case. I have sent them an email tonight and depending on what the reply is i think i'll be cancelling my contract and going somewhere else to get a more decent model.

I have a K750i. My jostick went a little wappy until i cleaned it.

Have you tried getting a cotton bud and cleaning the gunk out and then using compressed air to blow the rest of the gunk out of the way.

Its just like a mouse ball once cleaned they work as new again (usually).

I do like the K750i, apart from its slow to take pictures.

You can only change the phone (if you dont like it) in the first 14 days. If o2 (or for that matter any company) allowed people to change phones just because they didn't want it any longer then they'd be bankrupt within the year .

Once cleaned the K750i seem to work nicely. Takes a good couple of months with grubby fingers to dirty them up again. IF you have clean hands then that time frame is lengthened.

Try cleaning it. It costs next to note. You'll be supprised.

I had a T630 and the joystick went on that in the last 4 months of the 12 month contract. I took it to an O2 shop to be sent for repair. Came back with a whole new fascia, keypad and joystick. I sold for £40 when I got my upgrade.

My upgrade was a K700i which the joystick's gone funny on! As well as that I managed to crack the screen. I asked in the shop how much it'd be to repair the screen, they said £70-90!! I bought a brand new screen, T6 torx driver and case removal tool for £26 from eBay and replaced it myself. I took the handset into the O2 shop on Saturday to be sent for repair. By the time I get it back I'll have my new phone, so I'm selling it!

Basically, use the 12/18 month warranty for dodgy joysticks etc. It'll keep the phone in good enough condition for the duration of your contract, then you get a brand new handset when you renew.

Despite the problems I've had with SE joysticks I'd never buy anything else, mainly due to the reason stated above.

I got a Sony one, but there are alot of places that are advertising them and when you go to place an order they are not available/out of stock. try Froogling and or Googling 'Sony Memory Stick Micro M2' and take your pick. The place I got mine from are now out of stock.

There is always eBay but be aware as people selling these on eBay tend to charge high insuranse on postage.

This is where i have bought all of my previous memory cards, i've bought a 512mb card for my nokia 6670, a 512mb for my sisters v3i and a 1gb for my SE K750i here.

Never had problems with my 750's joystick apart from the paint rubbing off it. I would get it repaired as they are good phones, better than most of the new ones coming out. Have you got phone insurance? Chances are you may get a brand new 750 if you have.

No i didn't sign up for phone insurance, without it will they still repair it?

As advised i cleaned out the joystick but it's still sticking when trying to use it by pushing up it does nothing or to the right it does nothing. When i press down to access the menu it doesn't always work.

Send the phone for repair.

They will repair it....They have to by law, as it will have a 12month guarentee if it was new. Orange tried to fob me off once saying I needed insurance, but I held my ground and they repaired my phone free. So don't let them talk you around, also say you need a phone while yours is in for repair as otherwise you are paying for a service that you cant use through something that is not your fault.

Yes. Fortunately!

I'm on O2 200 with Carphone Warehouse and I've just been sent a letter 10 months into my contract saying I'm eligible for an early upgrade (bit peculiar isn't it?).

Nehoos... I have the W800i at the moment, which I'm very attached to... but thought I mite like to get the K800i. Am I right in thinking that the K800i is a 3G phone so when if I upgrade to it then O2 will send me a seperate 3G sim card (as opposed to me using my old sim in my new phone if i was upgrading to a 2G handset).

If I don't like the K800i, can I revert back to using my W800i? Or will the old sim have been deactivated? And I assume the new 3G sim wudn't work in my W800 ??

Could I ask O2 send me a 2G sim for free or... ? What's the procedure?

Any help greatly appreciated !!!

Thanks

3G sim will work in the W800i. I have a 3G sim in my K750i.

I have ordered a K800i as an upgrade (it's arriving tomorrow). I forgot to ask if I will get a 3G sim card, or if I need to ask for one. I have tried calling cust. services and their website but they are both down for maintenance.

I gather that my 2G T-Mobile sim will work, but does anybody know if I will need a new sim to enable video calling and 3G internet.

If I will need a new sim, will it affect the battery life?

Thanks

No.
I believe that the normal 2G Sim cards work in 3G phones.

It is only Orange and 02 who require you to have a new 3G sim card.

Thanks for the reply nockie3, I understand that a 2G will work in the phone, but I don't know if it will work for the 3G services such as video calling.

Cheers

It should do because T-Mobile dont offer any other sim card for 3G, so it should already all be enabled.

I hope so because I can't get thru' to customer services as they are too busy and it cuts me off!

Also, the sim I'm using is for my other line, not the one that is receiving the upgrade so it will only cause confusion trying to get a sim for the right number!!!

Thanks for the reply and I'll post when I get the phone to confirm that video calling works.

Finally spoke to T-Mobile, my existing sim will do video calling and other 3G stuff, but they did have to enable it on my account.

Hi,

I just got my new K800i very happy with it, got it SimFree and am using my old O2 PAYG card in it. Only problem is it does not work with the 3G stuff and O2 have told me they don't do 3G with PAYG. I have been into the local shop and called customer services twice. Anyone else had this?

Anyhow, I called Vodaphone and they say their 3G works fine on PAYG so I have ordered one of there cards for £2, hope that world!

Damn good phone though!

I think you can get 3G on pay as you go, but i think you have to buy the phone direct from o2 to get the sim.

Try emailing them.
