That is correct the Toppy only records from its own freeview tuners. The same is true of all the twin Freeview tuner PVRs.

No, it doesn't. It's on the to-do list, but the last time they came up with a 'fix', back last summer, there was a nasty bug that caused recordings to be damaged when the playback stopped, so they changed the behaviour back.
