DAB radio required
Can anyone recommend a good sounding DAB radio for around £50?

i certainly can!
i just bought a Creative 500 DAB radio from Amazon for £40. And i love it. We have it in the kitchen and it picks up about 51 stations (london area). It has 6 presets which are dead easy to use and although it only has 4.5 watts per speaker, the sound is crisp and packs quite a punch. It also has bass and treble controls. The only downside is that its mains powered only. But if it's your first dabble with DAB (as it was for me) i can heartliy recommend it. |

I bought an "ONN" DAB to use as a bedside radio, and am very happy with it for £34. I had previously bought an Alba for this role, but at low volumes there's a perceptible buzz at all times which makes it unsuitable as a bedside radio - so it has been relegated to the kitchen, in which role it performs admirably.
The ONN has an outboard power supply, so doesn't suffer from this problem. Also has an alarm, and a sleep timer. Absolute bargain. And yes, it has a headphone socket. My only gripe is that the glow from the LCD display is a bit irritating when trying to sleep, but I have fashioned an attractive "LCD guard" from a small piece of cardboard to overcome this ![]() Lovely to have 5Live in nice crisp digital - MW can be painful late at night. I don't know who actually makes them. I've seen the exact same radio in Maplins with a different badge (can't remember the brand). |

I have a Pure One radio and it cost a penny under £50. It sounds superb and has FM, as well as DAB, plus a headphones socket, mains adapter (also takes C batteries or Pure battery pack), and a USB connector for future updates. It's available in pink (which I bought), black or white. From Argos
