Simple question? Is the standard of compilation albus dropping? I bought a fairly well known one and had heard of hardly any of the artists.

Am I right?

No, i don't find your question simple.
What exactly do you mean?

Is your problem with the album the unknown artists or the quality of the music?

If its the music, then why buy the album? As for the artists being unknown, why would that make it lesser quality?

Yeh, thats [knowing the artist] the one reason I probably wouldn't buy a compilation. I like to buy compilation to get into new acts and new genres, although I can certainly see that that wont be the case for most people.

I long for a compilation based on the sort of music you hear on John Peel.

It was a chart based compilation, hence you would expect it to be based on chart music. But no.

I brought a CD called "Retro Dance" the other week, it had loads of great songs on

Not sure if the standard has dropped, I used to buy all the NOW cd's back in the 90's. I had from Now 20 to Now 38, but then I got bored of them, probably because my music taste started to change.
I dont think the CD's arent as good, is probably that you dont like the music, maybe bacause your bored of that type of music, or the old saying, "music's not as good as it used to be" which would explain why compilations are full of crap sometimes......
