Who is Nicky Hopkins ?
My fave song to sing on stage is Revolution (The Beatlles). It rocks.
I put the CD for Revolution 1, same song but slower, into my PC and the Windows Media list shows all songs on the White Album as being Beatles songs, but lists Revolution 1 as "Nicky Hopkins, Beatles". All I know about him is he played the organ and he is now dead. But who was he and why does he get billing on this track ? I know that as well as the Beatles these peeps also played on that particular track but they don't get mentioned as the artistes. Derek Watkins Freddy Clayton Don Lang Rex Morris J Power Bill Povey So, what's so special about Nicky Hopkins and does anyone know him ? |

Nicky Hopkins was a top session piano player during 1960`s and 70`s, he did indeed play on Revolution 1 on the Beatles
White album though i don`t know why he gets such a prominent credit. He played piano in the Jeff Beck group which featured Rod Stewart on vocals + Ronnie Wood on bass. He played with the American west coast band Quicksilver Messenger Service and I think, on 8 Rolling Stones albums. He died aged around 50 in 1994. A very fine musician indeed! |

Thank you Sylow. If ever you put the White album into media player, you should see his name listed as the artist.
