I have found this out the odd now and again as my girl is on Orange and im on 02, Some textes arrive within 30 seconds and some take a few mins to arrive to her Orange phone. Also if you wait a min or two then resend a text the text thats resent may arrive before the same first text you have sent. Also my girls been getting a weak signal at times on her Orange phone in the last short while.

Hi,
I have been on O2 (Online) Pay & Go since February and have not experienced any problems with texts not being delivered. I have two phones on O2 and I haven't had any problems sending texts to other O2 phones and other networks (mainly Orange and Virgin Mobile). They have been delivered within seconds and I have tested sometimes with a delivery report to check they are delivered OK. The only problem I've ever had with texts on O2 is occasionally, when I send texts that go onto 2 or more pages, only the first page is delivered. The recipient gets a message saying *some text missing* at the end and does not receive the second half. This has only happened to me a couple of times since I have been with O2 though. |

A couple of mins for a SMS to arrive is classed by all networks as an acceptable time frame.

Texting my mate on 02 now, they arent getting my texts at all!
I just tested my phone, as i thought it was me! I sent a text to a vodafone mobile and another T-Mobile mobile and they both arrived within seconds. Must be an 02 thing. How crap! |

I think that the poll is based on what is cheapest for people rather then the most reliable so cant really be used as an indicator for the best network rather the most popular.
I seriously think that o2 sms has always not been quite up to scratch. For example and im sure some of you will defend this. I know of no other networks that have had these sort of problems, intermitent ones sure everyone does but problems that are always around. I wonder if the sms part of the network is running at capacity in palces meaning that some messages get lost or not sent at all |

I don't think people (espically the people who frequent forums like this) are going to remain with a service just because it is cheap. If we did we would all be now on 3. The thread in question asks what network do you prefer. People overall do not prefer something purely because its cheap, they prefer it because of the overall deal. Cheapness attracts customers. The quality of the deal retains them. You have to have a happy medium of both, evidently from the thread o2 have attained this to get so many votes. |

Deals boil down to something being cheap tho.
O2 lead the market for a short time giving away 300 texts everything month and people jumped at the chance to get the free sim cards. However once people have joined a network they and i say most of the time they simply cant be bothered to move networks. Orange and the other networks have had to follow suit, dont get me wrong every network has its faults...oranges coverage out in the sticks is rubbish compared to o2. But i think o2s down fall is the sms side of the network |

Other networks wouldn't be worried about T-mobile Flex plans etc. You are trying to pass opinion as fact. I mean can you substantiate that o2 once lead because of their 300 sms deals? The information suggests that the bulk of the customers who make o2 are actually on standard consumer or business accounts, not online and/or PAYG online variants. The last set of figures put o2 as second largest networks with 32 less customers than T-mobile. T-mobile rounded off their figures so it is possible that o2 had the highest amount of customers within the uk. |

Ok ok im not getting into an arguement about it we both have our own opinions. What im saying is that without a doubt the sms part of o2 network has issues that have been around for a very long time. Wether its congestion at certain points of the network or what i dont know. Its just that it seems they are the only network to have real problems with text messages and they always have done

If people are unhappy they need to be logging this with O2.
People are very vocal on here, but I can assure you that this is not a very big complaint reason. If it is such a big problem, why are people not complaining? |

Ok well basically the people that are having the problem are non customers of o2. For example myself, to start with i thought that it was a problem with orange so i gave them a call and logged a fault. Got a call back saying all messages on the system had been delivered so it was a fault with o2. As im not a customer they wont listen to me and the people who send the messages dont feel its their duty to ring up as they dont really have a problem if that makes sense.
Gary you work for o2 dont you ? If so couldnt you raise this internally? |

I carn't really raise this issue however when back at work i will have a word with some collegues and see if there is a reason why the above may be happening. I am curious as to whether this is a PAYG only thing. I dont have any dealings with PAYG and also have no issues with any of my non payg hadsets, nor do i see these issues listed above arising on a regular basis. Try emailing o2 and see if they can be of any assistance? |

Or the more likely reason is that something is not right in your settings (or has been altered). |

0770 and 0771 are the older O2 numbers orginally for contract use. However the 4 numbers above cover a very large amount of customers. So it would be better if you can give 5 numbers. |

Thanks for your replies and advice, Garyo2. The GPRS might have timed out, and for some reason the phone is having issues reconnecting to a session. Off and back on should work if this is the case. |

o2 texts not arriving too t-mobile
since yesterday afternoon i have been unable to recieve text messages from the o2 network. I am getting texts come through from Orange and Vodafone so would it be the o2 network at fault? I am on hold too T-mobile customer service which I have been since 9.03 am
Anyone else experiencing similar issues?? If networks are aware of these issues they should let there users Know.

I have thanks. But this thread is regarding a specific issue. I think it is a raw deal when o2's naff network impacts users on others.
