Nah, people don't keep services just because they carn't be bothered to alter it, its not the insurance industry. People are all to aware of the deals available and use them to the full extent. A small proportion of well off customers might, but then again they wouldn't have choosen a network because of the 'cheapness'
If this was the case 3 wouldn't have been able to build their base so quickly.
Other networks wouldn't be worried about T-mobile Flex plans etc.
You are trying to pass opinion as fact. I mean can you substantiate that o2 once lead because of their 300 sms deals? The information suggests that the bulk of the customers who make o2 are actually on standard consumer or business accounts, not online and/or PAYG online variants.
The last set of figures put o2 as second largest networks with 32 less customers than T-mobile. T-mobile rounded off their figures so it is possible that o2 had the highest amount of customers within the uk.
