Apparently this disc is the latest which as RCE encoding - adding to the rapidly expanding catalogue which now totals 3! (The Patriot and Thomas and the Magic Railroad being the others)
Although RCE doesn't actually affect many dvd players, I have heard that it is even extremely easy to bypass the RCE on this with the few makes of multiregion players which do have problems - including Toshiba auto-switching players which were the major brand affected previously If you have a Toshiba, just press 'stop' as the disc starts to load and then 'memory', '1' - apparently you can then subsequently press 'menu' and access the extra features as well |

After getting the film going and pressing menu, the menu did appear, however when I tried to play the trailers (that's all I tried) they wouldn't play, it just froze, as if the protection was tested again.

My copy of this arrived this morning 11/1/1. It is marked as a standard region 1 disk, not RCE, and played on my panasonic 717 with no problems. DVD express indicate on their site whether a disk is RCE region 1 or 'normal' region 1 and this is marked as 'normal' region 1. Where did you get your disks from ?

I heard theres a work around for the toshiba players. apprently you press the memory button followed by 1 then play, that should get the dvd working.

RCE only affects players which don't feature region selectable, right?
