Storing buffer from both tuners

I own a Toppy, as well as a Thomson DHD4000. I got the Thomson, then discovered the Toppy, and had to have it, so the Thomson has been relegated to the other room. Anyways, on the Thomson the buffer continues to store stuff on the channel you are watching if you start to surf. You press 0 on the remote and it continues where you left it. This isn't the case on the Toppy. You turn over for a split second, and an hours buffer is gone *PUFF* just like that. I know we have PIP, but I cannot see why you cannot buffer more than one channel. If you can record two at once, surely you can buffer two (unless you are already recording another channel). I would like to see this feature implemented in the future if poss, be it via Firmware, or TAP.

If you have got used to using the buffer it is no doubt a pain not to be able to on the Topfield.
However as soon as I realised how easy it was to lose the buffer on the Topfield I just turned time shifting off. If I really want to ensure I can go back to watching something I just press record - OK and a 'proper' recording starts.
I presume that the buffer will however the machine works be lost when ever a second recording starts and I do quite a lot of simultaneous recording.

I can understand that, but it was one of the features I loved about the "Tommy". When the adverts started I could spend a good few minutes flicking through the other channels, maybe watch a few minutes of an interesting documentary on UKTV History, then flick back to the channel I was watching and fast forward through the adverts and continue viewing.

One way of doing some of that, though perhaps not quite in the way you're used to, is with the UK OZ Surfer TAP, which is a sort of souped up rather whizzy Picture in Picture.

I used to have the Oz Surfer TAp, but as I recall, it used to hog the OK button, which made teletext viewing a pain in the derrier.

I had the same problem with UK/OZ surfer, but in the current version you can change the start key so I have changed mine to the 'list' key and all works fine and doesn't interfere with any other TAP. Well apart from if you call up Surfer while ImproBox is on the screen but I believe that is a well known problem with the two!
