I am wondering weather to get this dvd for christmas for my bedroom.
Is it all its cracked up to be because it sounds like the Bogs Dollocks to me!! And I need it to play everything i feed it too?
What are the specs, please because I have tried everywhere on the net to find a review but no such thing.

Thankyou

PS: to 'Pacific' have a website?

Its a nice looking machine, AFAIK plays DVD/VCD/SVCD/CD-R/RW etc and is quite cheap and easy to use - but, my bro in law had two and had to take both back for various problems, so went for the Alba in Argos instead and has had no probs since.

Pacific seems to be a brand of Schneider, but the website (can't remember the address) is hopelessly out of date.

I believe there was a hack for it. Try www.vcdhelp.com or www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk also try searching this forum, as I posted some stuff about it at the time.

Anyone know where I can find a macrovision hack for this ?

I seem to be able to find loads for the 750 version but none for the 1002 ?

I want to plug it in my video so I can whatch DVDs through the Aerial output on the video (hooked up to my bedroom) but the macrovision screws the picture up.

Ring the Asda helpline and they will send one out. Its on the green gaurantee wallet. Also if you ring your local store they may give you a copy from another machine.

I have the Pacific 1002 and the only problem I have with it is that if I use DVD2SVCD and create 80 minute CD images - the unit just stops and I loose half the film.

Does anyone know if the firmware can be upgraded ?

Is there a website or anywhere that can help ?

Thanks

Craig

(Other than this its a great unit)

The latest players (with the WhatHi Fi Rating of 4 stars on the box) have newer firmware and fixes a few problems with the machine.
