A question for the garage/grime lovers
Can anyone please help. I’ve been racking my brains all week over this one.
Do any of you know the name of the group who did that tune “Oi”, it was out about 2/3 years ago?

It's more like 5 years since this came out (2001). Doesn't seem that long ago, eh?
People in the know pinpoint Oi as the tune where garage started turning to grime as it was a lot more aggressive than your usual garage choonz but i think the first official grime choon where it was definately a new breed of music that was even more aggressive and heavily hip hop influenced was I Luv U by Dizzee Rascal in 2002. The Oi video http://youtube.com/watch?v=0KRKCrGIn...%20fire%20crew |

Ok, I now have Oi, Heartless Theme, What do you call it, Friday night, Boo and now I luv you - what other songs in that genre were out around and after that time? Thanks

The other main tune from that time which was huge was Know We by Pay As You Go Kartel.
A good compilation which includes a lot of the choonz that straddled the garage/grime divide is this one.. http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayP...;-1&sku=579677 That tracklisting should jog your memory on some more to download. Some other great tunes from that period that weren't really hits but kinda shaped how the music was going were.. Musical Mobb-Pulse X Kano-Boys Luv Girls Danny Weed & Target-Fresh Air/Hyperdrive Wiley ft Dizzee Rascal-Ice Rink It's weird how huge garage was and how grime started out in the top 40 with the likes of Know We, Oi, and I luv u but then went backwards into being this real underground music and very few of the big tunes have really been chart hits, save the really huge ones like Pow by Lethal Bizzle, innit.
