Denon amplifier settings for SKY +
If you are watching a TV programme through Sky +, just a standard programme (not a film transmitted in DTS or Dolby Digital 5.1) what is the best amp setting? Should it be setup to Prologic II, or DTS Neo:6 Cinema, or what?
Thanks in advance |

We generally leave ours on PLCII (Dolby Prologic).

How many speakers does PLCII (Dolby Prologic) actually use - it doesn't appear to utilise the surround speakers as much as I'd have thought?
When a film comes on Sky that does has Dolby Digital, which setting do you use then - DTS Neo:6 Cinema? |

PL2 uses all your speakers.
PL sound is not as effective as DD which is why DD was invented. If you are watching a DD film then use DD. DTS Neo is simply the DTS version of PL2 in trying to make non 5/6.1 sound seem as if it is. In Pro-Logic 2 the amp is creating sounds for the rear speakers that are not really there ,unlike DD or DTS sound which carries sound for all channels individually. If your amp is DD-EX and DTS-ES capable you should also have a rear centre speaker and you can set the amp to create a rear centre soundtrack for non EX/ES stuff from the existing left and right rears |
