Nokia 6310 Question.

Guys (and girls),

My ageing old Nokia 6210 is dying, and I was going to replace with the 6310 (logical progression), but what I do not know is if the 6310 is pin compatible with the 6210 on the in-car kit.

I have used both 5110, 5130, 6110 and 6210's in it, so as my logic goes maybe the 6310 will work?

Any ideas?

Best,

Microkid42.

I've just acquired a 6310i (the tri-band eqiv of the 6310) and it works with the Nokia car kit I had installed with my previous 6110.

Thanks matey,

The form factor looked the same, but didn't want to splash the cash, only to find that I had to shell out for another handsfree kit installation of £150!!

Thanks,

If the car kit you have is a Nokia CARK-91 (I think that's right) which is the fully installed one and completely handsfree with microphone etc, then if your 6110 and 6210 worked, then so will your 6310. I have that car kit and will only get a phone that works in it as it's the best car kit I've found.

have you seen the huge raft of new phones that Nokia have just announced? None of them are shipping yet but they all say estimated shipping in Europe Q1 of 2003. Some look lovely, some look horrid, and one is just downright odd!

You could always splash out on a bluetooth car kit. The 6310i is bluetooth compatable, and almost any new phone you get (of any make) after this will be too.

(Except the 7650, but I'm only pointing that out to wind RipSaw up)

Ok, I have now got my hands on a Nokia 6310i phone, and it's a nice unit (expect for the sound quality is not as good as my old phone!).

You guys here, and my service provider both recommended this phone as being compatible with my 5110/6110 in car kit.

NOT!!!!

When I place the phone into the cradle, it very briefly switches the phone to handsfree/car mode (as indicated by the little car logo that appears) but then disappears. The phone seems to be getting power ok (as it charges fine) but if I try and make a call, it makes the call, but does not switch the signal to the car stereo.

First I thought it was the connectors, but they are identical to my old phone, so not there. Then I thought that maybe I had to 'enable' the handsfree option, and I dive into the menu and under Accessories, I can select the profile to use, but still no use.

I notice that my cradle is not a Nokia branded item, but has a name of 'Betrieb', which is German in origin.

I have tried the 6310i with a friends kit, and it works perfect, so it leads me to think that the issue is with my h/free kit.

I can't afford to have a new installation, nor can I afford to go bluetooth. This is why I went down this path.

Guys and help would be really appreciated, as I really like the phone, but it's going back if I can't get it to work..

Thanks,

Microkid42.
