I have a dvd-r which plays on my old Sony DVD player . Unfortunately , it would not play on my Panasonic . This is the first disc I have had this trouble with . The problem is that the dvd-r is an archive of old home movies , which I would like to preserve for posterity on a DVD-Ram disc.

Not a problem , I thought . I would copy the disc using dvd shrink and then burn back onto the RAM disc . But when I do the Panny says the disc needs formatting .It won't read the contents , even though they can be read by my PC (which also has RAM capability)

So , how do I best get a DVD-r (perfectly playable on the PC and Sony )onto DVD RAM ????

Well, other people may well have whizzo software solutions, but here's one basic idea, if all else fails.

If they are old home movies, absolute quality is probably not an issue, so you could just copy the disc by connecting the AV out of the Sony to the AV in of the Panny.

Hi, If that didn’t work I think you need to finalise the disc on the computer. don’t format the disc you will clear it of all data.
