I have recently purchased a sony hxd710 recorder with freeview built in,when setting the timer recording to record a movie on bbc1 recently, with the epg timer recording i missed the end of the movie as it stopped recording,i know some one said you can adjust the recording time ,but cannot find any posts on here about it,can anyone help out with this also i set the epg to record a movie on channel 4 which lasted from 10.00pm to 11.55pm,and when i went to play it back to watch it had stopped recording after 1 hour,i think the news came on during the channel 4 movie and the epg must have thought the movie had ended ,does anyone else have any experience of these problems, any help or advice would be most helpful, thanks,
joeann.

TV schedules can slip a little and if the EPG is not updated, recording might get clipped. This doesn't appear to be a problem with the 710 but rather a failing of the broadcasters. Some seem better than others but even BBC have the occasional problem. I imagine with the recent World Cup and Wimbledon, schedules might have slipped my more than a few minutes and so maybe the problem has been more serious.

My advice is, if the recording is particularily important to you, manually adjust the timer settings and add 10 minutes either end.

You can adjust an EPG-set timer event by going to the timer screen, select Modify for the required event, change the recording date from a specific date to a general one, i.e. change Today to Mon. Return to the timer screen and re-select the timer event and you should now be able to modify the start and end times.

Finally, you have to watch out for films which have an "intermission". Check the EPG and either be sure to set it to record all segments or manually adjust the timer settings.

Hope that helps,
Stuart
