why do vodafone top up cards have an expiry date on them?

cant you still use them if they havent worn out or do you have to go to the shops to get another on that only lasts 3 months ?

thanks

Vodafone don't do E-topup cards anymore. Apparently old stock of them 'remain valid', whatever that means. I assume it means you can still use them past the expiry date, but not 100% sure.

Wait if they don't do E-Top Up cards now how are customers meant to top up their phone?

Yeah its not fair if they only start doing Debit/Credit card top ups not everyone has a card and I hope they don't start doing vouchers again I hated them. I'm on vodafone anymore but other networks might start donig the same thing.

If you don't have an e-topup card you can top up using the internet, by phoing the topup line and using a debit card, by e-voucher, by cash machine or by transfering credit from a pay monthly account.

Not ideal if you like the e-topup cards I know.

you can get another card from tesco, but i saw they all expire on 07/06 sale as the one i was issued with from vodafone, just wanted to know if you can use it past the expiry date to top up as it isnt a visa card just an e-topup

cheers

Hi Magneticblue,

You can Pick up a Swipe card from most local retailers displaying the Green E-Topup logo. If you have one with an expiry date of 07/06 this will continue working beyond this date. Providing the card is registered to your account before 07/06 you'll have no problems.

I hope this helps.

Once the retailers run out of cards, that will be it, you won't be able to get one. The ones round here don't have any these days, even Tesco hasn't had any for ages.

When they run out of stock completely it'll be back to vouchers printed on till recipts for people without bank accounts or existing cards

How crap is that I remember when etop up cards first started and they bragged about how easy and so much better then vouchers they would be.

I know, not good for those people who use them. I suppose it saves Vodafone a load of money if they don't offer them, but its bad news for the end users.

Just thought of this one, what about users who have poor eye sight, or some other condition such as Dyscalculia (a bit like dyslexia, but with numbers)? - just swiping a card was much easier than having to read & type in a long number from a badly printed till recipt.

I can actually relate a bit I've got bad eyesight due to a condition which i wont bore you with but it makes it really hard to read vouchers which is why i dont use 3 much now.

Also some till receipts are badly printed like you say. It depends some are really clear and bold and some are really faint.
