hi guys!

is it just me or is music changing? i mean the recent obsession which went from pop to garage has now turned towards rock! which i am very exited about! i think this music is the best and am pretty glad that we are out of the garage and pop era!

..Music will always change and the Garage and Pop era will (if it has gone? ) will be back.

You'll find that its not that Rock was not there, more that it now has more coverage on the likes of MTV2 etc. But 'poppy rock' or 'Nu Metal', that you see makes it into the pop charts and played on the pop channels and radio station is maybe having a popular spell at the moment. - the Die hard rock fans would say the music that sorta music isn't rock.

For the record I like all types of rock whether that be the old stuff of the new stuff.

Garage - sounds a little like Chicago house I listened to at 11

Nu Metal - sounds like Grunge when I was 15

pop = pop any era

rock = rock

nah, dont think it's changing too much - just the youngsters who are going thru their cool phase need to think so to differentiate from their forebears (even contemporaries) to help define themselves.

proper Garage started along the same lines as Chicago House but was from New York.

the term Garage nowadays has been hijacked by the R&b crew who wanted to collabarate with Drum'n' Bass.

some Garage now bears no relation to the original Garage.

Moved to music and radio... very interesting and relevant subject to this forum.

We do seem to be seeing a revolt against the manufactured pop sound... Virgin Radio's "real music" campaign springs to mind. Never did like Garage, I must admit...
