Hi

My wife took out a fantastic 3 phone deal with

http://www.just3g.co.uk

A brand new Lg U880 phone with 750 inclusive minutes , 150 texts , free accessories including free bluetooth headset.

The deal was a 12 month contract , equiv to 10 months @ £3.99 and 2 months @ £40 after cash back so it worked out to be the equiv of £9.99 per month over the contract period

Just before they were due to pay the first refund they went belly up so its costing £40 per month over the 12 month contract.

So its not now a fantastic deal

So if you go for cash backs , go with a big company , We have always used Dialaphone and found the redemption's been processed very fast

Anyone know anything about

Phonebox direct and cool new mobile are both run by the same company, phonebox direct.

The mobile outlet are part of a company called Mobile Matters, based in Bradford.

Phones 2 u direct are a retailer with an online side based in Kent.

All of them are high volume online businesses, mostly with call centres based abroad as well as the web trade.

Hi,

Bought my two phones on March 29. Received first bill in April dated 02 April. Therefore 4th bill would be July, no not according to e2save. If I buy in March, first bill in march so I should have sent in June bill. So I have missed out on first cash back on two phones. Sent a letter explaining, but they cannot seem to grasp the fact that my 4th bill is dated July. So now will be send letter asking for cashback (as I have followed preceedure) or reply within 14 days otherwise I will take them to small claims court. Will let you know how I get on.

Ive just sent my 1st cashback claim to Phonebox direct for £63 via recorded delivery. It arrived with them today.

It says on their website they should e-mail when they process it onto their system.

I will give them a call next week to make sure everything is OK.

Heres hoping.

Does anybody know an alternative number for PhoneBox Direct I have noticed they have changed their number to a premium rate 0906 number!!

I have succesfully recieved payment for 4 out of 5 of my claims but claim 5 is now overdue im guessing they are trying to get customers to call their revenue generating number before they send out cheques.

The numbers on Saynoto0870 advise of the new 0906 number.

Hi

I got emails this morning from Affiliatefuture this morning, announcing that all affiliate programs have been cancelled following liquidation of all three retailers.

You know the saying. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is too good to be true. The industry should ban these cash back offers.

I'm having huge problems at the minute with the clowns at E2Save.

It makes it even more annoying when the situation is 0% my fault, yet I'm the one who is getting bills for a contract and hpone I do't have, and none of their employees knowing what to do.

One more call tomorrow, after that, Ofcom (more like Ofcon though!), and Office of Fair Trading

And of course all the customers of the companies that have gone bust are now tied into expensive contracts with the air-time providers. So what they thought were cheap deals will now cost them a lot of money.

Agreed, if anything it will stop the many threads on here from people who ignored the warnings about cashback and thought they knew better.
If you take out a cashback deal you should do it with your eyes open, understanding there is a good chance you won't get all your rebates.

if we dont getcashback on the 1st try then doesnt that give us the right to not see the contract through?

Your contract will be with the network, not with the reseller.

Contact your network. A lot of the networks have entered some kind of voluntary code in which they are trying to help customers of the resellers that went bust - some are giving some kind of discount on your LR at least.

In your actual T&C for your airtime contract it will not mention anything about discounts, these were provided by the third party seller therefore I can not see any way at all you would be allowed to cancel your contract.

This is interesting. Apparantly a contract customer managed to get out of their contract following the collapse of the reseller they bought from.

Taking legal action against non paying cashback is like one person fighting a billion, you can't win.

Companies state very clearly how to get cashback, it's not a trick!

1. Send the correct bills within the time period, 60 days is standard.
2. Send it via recorded delivery, things going missing in the post so don't blame the phone company.
3. Wait for your cheque.

It's an easy process, and I have always got my money on time.

The trouble with the above process is the number of cash-back companies who go bust. Then you not only lose your cash-back you are also stuck with a very expensive contract for the up to 18 month.

The whole concept is flawed. How can the cash-back companies afford to pay you money? Where do they get this magical cash? The answer is that they make it so difficult for you to get it they hope that most people won't bother. It's reckoned that if more than 40% of customers claim their cash-back then the whole thing just collapses because the companies run out of money. This is what happened in recent high-profile cases.

@skymangel, people occasioanlly post on here about how straightforward the cashback process is. In theory you are correct. The sticking point is whether you trust the company to keep its end of the deal. Given the very large number of companies who have defaulted on their cashback deals and gone out of business, it would not be sensible to rely on a cashback deal.
Even, the big boys like e2save/carphone warehouse can get it wrong some times. Have a look on the moneysavingexpert forums.
