They have made it.
There are articles on the internet which say it's available in July, and it is on page 17 of the the July/August edition of the O2 shop catalogue that I picked up today, and costs £129.99. But they didn't have any in stock in Lincoln, and when I asked if this was because they hadn't started selling it yet they didn't know. I was told to call tomorrow when they have a delivery to see if they get it then.
In the Link they told me O2 are to stop selling the L7 plain, and will sell only the i-mode version but they didn't have it available yet - they did try to sell me an L6i; and the Carphone Warehouse were clueless about i-moe and thought I meant iTunes and tried to sell me a V3 on U-fix so I walked out).
I don't want to have to buy the L6i, which they do have in stock, if I can get my hands on an L7i, because the L7i has a better screen resolution, camera and more memory than the L6i... though the L6i does have a free Bluetooth headset going for it.

Thing is, I need an i-mode phone to update my Freeview Guide Mobile site (
http://freeviewguide.peperonity.co.uk/) because stupid me pressed the "convert to i-mode" button when I first got an i-mode phone. And i-mail is quite handy (and free MMS too).
