Blocking number (merged)
Critical

Hi guys,

Please could you help me? My friend has got herself in a bit of a mess, she gave her mobile number out to this guy who she wasn't really interested in but she was put in an awkward position and now she is constantly being hassled. The bottom line is, is there a way of "blocking" calls and/or texts from a certain number and how would she go about this? (she doesn't really want to change her number) She is with Vodafone if that helps. If anyone knows anything about this, I would be really grateful if they could help out because she's getting herself in a right state over it all.

Thanks very much.

Just phone Vodaphone up and ask them to bar the number. If its severe harassment,I would also phone their nuisance call dept.

I'm not sure the networks will block calls/texts to individual mobile phones from individual numbers.

Even if they did, it sounds like this pest would just call from another number.

Definitely worth calling your network anyway (sorry I mean getting your 'friend' to call their network) to report him.

They may advise your 'friend' goes to the police and or gets the advice of a solicitor. If the calls are a continual nuisance or are harrasment, an court injuction could ultimately be applied for to prevent them.

She might not want to but she should just change her number. Yeah it might mean giving her mates a new number but it will stop all the calls and texts or if its contract then like stud u like said call vodafone.

You cannot block calls or texts from a specific number (if there was, you know I'll be usuing the service!)

However, she could just say to the lad that shes not interested? Easiest thing to do, or if all else fails, ignore the texts and dont answer the calls.

Get someone else to answer it and say theyve just bought the phone off a friend. they may stop then if the fella thinks its someone elses phone now.

i had a stalkerish ex once and he kept phoning and texting me but not always on the same number so it wasnt as easy to report him
in the end i got a male friend to lie and say i'd moved abroad and the phone was now with his girlfriend
the calls and texts soon stopped

My phone blocks texts from specific numbers but i doubt you can block calls from numbers.
Why doesnt she just change numbers? Text all in her phone the new one but exclude this person.

I had someone dodgy from uni stalking me and I reported them to Vodafone who looked at the text messages he sent me and advised me to reply to him saying I had reported him as a nuisance caller and if they continued I would report him to the police.

It worked - he soon buggered off and left me alone.

It may just be phone specific as the majority of phones I know can't do this.

Samsung phones are able to block texts from certain numbers. The text is still delivered to the phone by the network, but when the text from the blocked number arrives, the phone just deletes the message without notifying you.

I personally wouldn't block texts as I'd like to read what they say. If you don't reply to it then the texter won't know that you've received their message or not.

Not everyone is like that though when i get a text from someone I'm not talking to i just cover the screen and delete it without reading it. I was getting hassled by some girl and when she called and i just answered and played music down the phone. After about a week the calls and texts stopped.
