Hello, I need an mp3 player. Please give me advise what to buy, I want something. (not an iPod)

Good Quality in music
Looks nice
Come with decent earphones
Looks nice
Anything above 2GB
Hard drive OR flash don’t mind
Anything above 2GB
Battery life good
Feels expensive, I don’t want to buy something that has a crap feel

(I was looking @ Zen m vision is it good)
Thank you

Good choice. You may want to check out epizenter.net, it has a dedicated forum for the vision:m with lots of useful info.

Why not an IPOD, simply the best MP3 player, nothing else comes close to be honest.

Well, the iPod has a voice recorder (I think), and with iPodLinux it'll play practacally anything.

i used my brothers ipod video for a week, anyway it was crap. because i like to use a player all day the battery on it was shockingly bad- it dies very quickly.

i decided to get a zen vision-m its an amazing mp3 player, only downside is that its bulkier to the ipod video

3.5 hours video playback on mine, 20 on audio on mine (used it on a flight to Aus last december!)which is long enough for audio as i simply pop it onto the dock when i get home.

Full colour album art

Holds up to 25,000 photos and Auto Syncs your photo library with your PC or Mac (take all your photos on the go)

Supported by ITunes (easily the best, most simply on-line store)

Apple click wheel is much more intuitive.

Autosyncs calenders, contacts and to-do lists with Microsoft outlook etc. (very handy!)

Better podcast support

Not to mention, asthetically its much more compact and better build quality than the Zen, and its a work of art, gorgeous machine, it didn't become a style symbol for nothing.

To name a couple.

I do wish people wouldn't make assumptions on kit due to using a faulty unit, do your research properly first. You brothers IPOD must be broken or have a damaged battery, as I can get 20 hours of audio out of mine before it loses charge.

Fair enough if you're one of the anti-apple crew, or just don't what an IPOD for whatever reason, but don't spread fallacies about a superb market leading product, that are simply not true!!

You can get more than 14 hours of audio if the volume isn't at max too
Full colour album art
Supported by Winamp, easily the best audio player ever
Autosynch with Outlook calendar, todo list and contacts (not that I bother with this - i put them in me mobile)
Compatible with most online music retailers, and not tied to 1 (that sells mainstream music)

tbh, i've found supplied headphones to always be crap (neither my iPod shuffle (comp prize) nor creative ones actually fit in my ears for starters)

The ipod can do everything you have said there, it isn't tied to itunes music store, you can play normal MP3s downloaded from other services on it.

Again, lack of research.

The Sandisk Sansa E200 series is an alternative to IPod nano. Flash memory up to 6GB. 8GB to be released. Micro sd slot for extra memory. Photos and video via software converter. Video gets converted into 10 minute segments. Plays subscription services (not Audible) and drm protected wma. US version has an FM radio but disappointingly this has been omitted from European version. Available from Amazon.

Simple answer to this one...

Buy one which does what you want, looks nice to you, and has a price you're happy with. Simple. If you want one that just plays music rather than videos etc. then don't get an iPod as you can get a "music only" one with a good capacity for half the price.

Also don't be swayed by the amount of space on the player. If you don't need 30GB then don't get 30GB! I have a 2.5GB player which just plays music and it is great for me as it holds about 500 tracks, is small enough to fit in my shirt pocket and not double me over, and I fill it with tracks I really love instead of putting entire albums on it and then have to skip tracks I'm not keen on. What I have instead is a tiny 500 track "best of" of my entire record collection. Perfect!

Excellent. Thanks for that site, I will explore it later

Just purchased a Zen Vision:M and am most impressed with the FM radio, the sound quality and the compatibility with AVI files. Initially quite impressed.

Going to sell my 60Gb iPod which just doesn't sound as good as far as I am concerned.

If you come from the 4th generation iPod models like me, then the Zen Vision:M is the same thickness and fits into the case that came with the 3rd generation iPod, albeit that case was 'stretched' a little by the fat 4g iPod

The only problem I can see with it is the dongle for charging, and I can't see it on Creative's website for purchase or on Amazon where I got the ZV:M from in the first place...

Ahh, the annoying dongle - you can get a replacement from the Creative site http://uk.europe.creative.com/shop/p...&product=1213& or a proper dock if you want http://uk.europe.creative.com/shop/p...&product=1214&

Oh thanks, I'll have to fork out for another of these so that I can charge it in work. That's my only gripe with this player, why not have the mini-B USB socket built into the player?! And the other sockets too, for that matter. Ah well, can't have everything.

The old ones did have the individual sockets!

I also would not have an ipod. Ok my MP3 player cant play video but can hold just over 250 songs and im 99% happy with my MP3 player and the docking station I got for it last week. My MP3 Player can also take 1 Ni-Mh AAA rechargable battery and that can last about 8 hours play fully charged.

Darren

Just noticed the Creative Zen Vision:M Sync Cable - One cable to charge via USB and Sync with the PC (why didn't it ship with this?!) -and if you want a faster charge plug the original charger in.
