im getting on now..just turned 50.

Musical monents in my life..those wonderfull spine tingling moments.

Led Zeppelin 'Heartbreaker' the opening riff that laid down the foundations for metal, along with the thrash rock middle eight.

Deep Purple. 'Higway Star' Richie Blackmores incredible triplets during the guitar solo..

Black Sabbath. 'War pigs' taking a cue from Led zep as above, and turned rock into heavy metal.

Status Quo. The guitar solo in 'Backwater junction'..a joyous musical moment. amazing melody.

The Beatles 'she loves you' I was 10 when I first heard this, never heard anything like it before and was the first record I every brought. played it to death.

Oasis. 'Dont look back in anger'. the sorta song I could imagine John Lennon doing,a wonderfully melodic rock song.

The Sex pistols. 'Anarchy in the uk'. powerhouse rythm section, Jonny spitting out the lyrics...great lyrics as well.

Pink Floyd 'Echoes'. I still listen to this now, a wonderfully constructed example of music.

Jimi Hendrix. 'The star spangled banner..woodstock version'. best guitarist ever, how he controlled that feed back in this solo I dont know...sheer genius.

Abba. 'The winner takes it all'. Id always dismiised Abba before this song. I first heard it in 1980 after splitting up with a girl I was very much in love with..this song musicall and lyrically just got that .'my partners left me..boo hoo' type vibe spot on.

Maybe its my age, but in the nineties and so far this decade only Oasis have 'done it' for me.

Off the top of my head:

Led Zeplin - The Rain Song

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (the guitar solo when performed live.. specifically off the PULSE album, but after seeing Roger Waters play live, that as well)

Pink Floyd - Shine On Your Crazy Diamond (the entire song is quite moving (mainly due to its topic, Syd Barret) but obviously those 4 famous notes are particulary haunting.)

The Doors - The End

Pink Floyd - Fat Old Sun (considering Floyd are famous for their epics, this is such a nice short song.)

I'm sure there are plenty more but I can't think of them at the moment.

* I keep on editing this list and adding to it.. must think of some music other than Floyd though!

I Couldn't agree more on Floyd's Echoes, Crazy Diamond, Great Gig in The Sky, etc, etc, they are still without doubt the BEST live band I have EVER seen!

I must admit some Classical music has that effect too in particular Elgar and Mozart.

Rocket by Herbie Hancock and White Lines by the Grandmaster are two faves from early hip-hop - reminds me of my break-dancing career - my first fully fledged youth movement at 11 - never lost a burn mind

was B-Boy until...

Fools Gold - Stone Roses
Wrote For Luck - Happy Mondays
Come Home - James
The Only One - Charlatans

...turned me belatedly into a indie kid at 18!

then branching out from there BuzzCocks, Sex Pistols and PIL did it for me in punk

and -

Too Much Too Young - Specials
Mirror in The Bathroom and Cant Get Used To Losing You - The Beat
Tears of a Clown
Prince Buster - Madness

....did it for me in Ska

Si &Garf, Carpenters, Julia (White Album) and Wuthering Heights have made me :'( the most in my Easy Listening moments

elliottm
enjoyed that

edit - guess I'd better add Smells Like Teen Spirit cos of the teeth Ive lost moshing too it altho Territorial P*ssings and Plateau were my faves

When U2 perform Where The Streets Have No Name live.

I experienced that feeling four times last year and it was just simply f**king incredible.

Tin Soldier - Small Faces”

I've been listening to Universal by The Small Faces quite a bit lately, and also have a horrible knack of doing Itchycoo Park on Karaoke (nothing against the song, rather my singing).. last time I did it was Sunday. I can in all honesty say that I was so drunk I can't remember doing it.

Which is nice.

Listening to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody off The A Night At The Opera Album on DVD-A. It sounds weird, especially the middle bit. The voices bounce around the speakers a bit, but I've got use to it.

Bob Dylan doing Joey, from the Desire album. Not usually a Dylan fan (bores me silly to be honest), but this is magnificent.
